[TOOLS] R3L3AS3DRoot and 43V3R root for the BIONIC v2.1

Confused

The fact that you have a Superuser.apk and no root tells me that you need to use option 1, which does a factory reset, restores system 886, does a forever root on it, and gives you back root on your phone but without the new OTA system.

Then you should be able to go to your settings for you phone and check for a system update and take the 893 OTA update and retain root.

Anyway, that worked for me.

there are alot of people its not working for though, thats what prompted the development of the pathsaver script.

The reason i believe its not working for most they did the pathsaver first. Thats why so many lost root updating to 901. After the pathsaver this method no longer works. You have to do the pathsaver and root and forever root while still running 886.

i didnt use the pathsaver to get to 901 the first time and this method didnt work for me, it was my belief that if you were on the 901 file from any method this wouldnt work.
the pathsaver actually reverts and forever roots pre-893 then lets you update to 893, but i have been recommending to most is apply the forever hack only (option 3 or 4 i forget, not 1) after flashing 893 before going to 901, it seems to greatly increase the success rate in keeping root.

Ok guys, I need help again, please!!
Something crashed on me, probably my pc, during the root process, this was after upgrading to 5.7.893 and running it for a day. I did a factory reset from the factory recovery, and tried everything again, and again, and again. Anyway, no I get this message:View attachment 45251 And thats the end. If I hold both volume keys and power back up and pick normal power up. Once it powers up, I touch the little android and the saw blade comes up with the message "please wait, this may take a few minutes. Well I wait a lot more than a few minutes. I get the notifications for the new data wiget, assisted dialing, and the power setting. The date is right, but the time is 6 hrs slow. I have not data.

Any ideas?

bweN diorD You are the man!! Thanks.

Ok the phone is at 5.5.886. Any suggestions on when to go from here? And which app should I use to get there. I'm downloading R3l3AS3DRoot_Wind now. Will that get me updated and rooted. I've read so much the last 2 days trying to unbrick my phone that I'm both tired and a bit confused. Too much info in such a short time.
Thanks friends!!

im going to root my friends bionic, its running .893 so as i've been reading the .886 build is the one that is "rootable". looks like i need to definitely run the bionic path-saver 1click method right? just double checking.

there is a new method posted in the past few days for 893 (i dont recall where, xda i think) but i havent looked into it and dont know how reliable it is.

but yes the pathsaver will work

ok thanks. I've rooted tons of phones (actually did a few bionics when they first came out, but just havent been ontop of it lately), but im assuming this works just like the original thunderbolt hack did? Flashing a previous firmware version that was easier to root, exploiting it and then flashing the newest version while keeping root correct?

I think im going to use the path saver, update it back to .893 and leave it like that. dont see a huge need for .901. i assume this method installs clockwork recovery correct?

btw, i found that other method u were talking about. only works on .893

You will need adb to do this. You can get the download here depending on your operating system. ADB

Download the follow file: it contains the exploit, su, Superuser

Download exploit -->Exploit.zip

1) Unzip contents of folder to your Desktop

2) open a command terminal and navigate to the folder (cd Desktop/Exploit)

3) type the following commands
---> adb push zerg /data/local
---> adb push su /data/local
---> adb push Superuser.apk /data/local
---> adb shell
---> cd /data/local
---> chmod 777 zerg
---> ./zerg

4) Wait for the root to be gained

5) type the following commands
---> adb shell (only type this if you are no longer in shell@targa)
---> mount -o rw,remount /dev/null /system
---> cat /data/local/su > /system/bin/su
---> cat /data/local/Superuser.apk > /system/app/Superuser.apk
---> chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
---> chmod 4755 /system/app/Superuser.apk
---> reboot

This is from P3Droid.

Issues when attempting to root Droid Bionic w/ R3l3AS3DRoot

In attempting to root my non-rooted Bionic running stock .893 purchased yesterday, I had some issues. There were a number of failures when launching the R3l3AS3DRoot.bat (can be found in the attachment). I chose option 2 and saw the following errors:

*sending 185 zerglings
-bad luck, our rush did not succeed :(

when I hit a key to continue, I received the following:
*Installing busybox, su, and SuperUser apk...
remount failed: Operation not permitted
failed to copy 'busybox' to /system/xbin/busybox' : Read-only file system
failed to copy 'su' to /system/xbin/su' : Read-only file system

then it appears the Superuser.apk unpackages
Success

Unable to chmod /system/xbin/su: No such file or directory
Unable to chmod /system/xbin/busybox: No such file or directory
/system/xbin/busybox: not found
link failed Read-only file system
Unable to chmod /data: Operation not permitted

*Installing 43V3R Root...
failed to copy 'mount_ext3.sh' to '/system/bin/mount_ext3.sh: Read-only file system
Unable to chmod /system/bin/mount_ext3.sh: Read-only file system
*All done! Your phone should now be 43V3R rooted!

R3L3AS3DRoot and 43V3R Root for the BIONIC
Works on any system software version (.886 and .893)

Now for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X
Presented to you by dhacker29, DroidTh3ory, Crpeck and TH3ORYROM

I have totally rewritten the windows version and Crpeck has rewritten the Linux/Mac OS X version

The downloads include all of the files necessary to either root or restore and root your bricked BIONIC no matter what system version you are on (.886 or .893

I have zipped up the fastboot binary, boot.img, system.img, ROOT tools and a custom script so that all you have to do is download the zip. Extract it the folder and double click on Root.bat (windows) or MotoRooter.sh (Linux/MacOS X) file to be given the option to root your BIONIC or recover and restore from a bootloop or softbrick on your BIONIC.

The Windows version now includes the ADB exe and DLL file so you don't have to worry about not having ADB setup.

The Linux and Mac OS X version has been updated by Crpeck, so that it is now menu driven and has a clicky icon for Mac OS X users. It includes the adb and fastboot binaries for both OS's and will auto determine which platform you are running.

Instructions:
Download the zip:
Windows: R3l3AS3DRoot_Windows_V2.1.zip
MotoRooter for Linux and Mac OS X: MotoRooter-1.1.zip

Extract the zip folder on your computer.

Double click the file R3L3AS3DRoot.bat for windows, MotoRooter.sh for Linux, or Mac-MotoRooter for Mac OS X in the folder where you extracted the zip.

Follow the prompts on the screen and you'll be given the option to restore to factory stock, restore to factory stock and reroot with forever foot, or forever root your phone.

Each section gives you instructions on what mode to put your phone in so follow them carefully!

Enjoy the scripts!! And show Crpeck some love for helping with the Mac OS X stuff and making my linux version even better.

If you encounter an error message please post what the error was and which operating system you were running it on so we can help you better.
