Razr Maxx HD vs. Galaxy s3

G3 radio reception issue versus Moto's radios and RM hd

I am coming off the very troubled Thunderbolt. I am tempted by the G3 but have real concerns over the issues some people seem to having with weak reception. I like sexy, new technology, but it also has to work. Strong phone functionality is a must. Has Samsung and Verizon solved the g3 phone issues and/or what has been the experience so far (understanding it is only a couple of days) with the Razr (Maxx) hd phone reception quality. Opinions on this relative to the g3 are also welcomed. Thanks

I returned my S3 because of it's weak reception. It simply did not work where my DroidX had 4 bars of 3G. Now the MAXX HD gets 2-3 bars of 4G in the exact same spots the S3 only had 1x, if that. There were places where the S3 wouldnt even make a phone call, and this was in a known 4G coverage area.

Personally, I couldn't believe how poor the S3s antennas were and the MAXX HD has no such limitation. It's been great so far.

That's good to hear after all those rumors about a bad antenna. But Motorola has usually put very solid radios into their phones and Moto users seem to always say they get great reception.

I've heard initially the Bionic had issues but that they got patched with an update. I personally don't have a Bionic so I can't say much one way or the other.

This may be to upsell to a more expensive phone. But I spoke with a in store VZW rep who said the GS3 drops calls in well saturated areas when the network is full or crowded. The RAZR HD/Maxx won't. The rep already knew I had the Maxx HD. I don't live in a fringe signal area. But around the out skirts of my county signal gets scarce. So having a signal hound phone is better.

I have a bionic and its hard to hold a signal

My contract recently expired on my Droid X, and I've been doing a ton of research on which phone to get next. I narrowed it down to two-Galaxy s3, and Razr Maxx. Eventually decided on s3 by a narrow margin. Well now, the HD Maxx is coming out soon-ish (rumored to be October sometime), and I'm not sure what to do.

Taking specs into consideration, what do you guys think?? I'd love some input.

I have both and the GS3 is a POS it drops calls.

I'm going to stick with the Razr

I have had maybe 3 or 4 dropped calls in over 3 months of owning the S 3. I occasionally have dropped calls on my razor and Droid x2 as well. There must have been something wrong with your Samsung phone.
