HA! I'm an idiot. User error. Thank you so much for your help. Program is amazing once i stopped being a moron. I will recommend it to all my friends. I will also give a heads up to all of our droid purchasers at work (Best Buy).

Thank you again!

Glad you have it working now.

If it is not too much of an embarrassment, please share, or send me a pm/email with the info.

Thanks for sharing the info at your work-place, I appreciate that.

Any chance you could add some points to my Reward Zone account ? :icon_ banana:

yeah i didn't realize that i set the video player option to motorola instead of android. Just a simple oversight. I put in GI JOE to convert it and it says 11+ hours... lol thats a lot of converting... is that normal? Oh btw all of my converting has been from dvd.

The Motorola or Android setting doesn't make a difference. The Droid profiles are located in a couple of different categories, mainly because some people have trouble finding them when they are located in just one group.

11 hours is definitely not normal, something else must be causing some complications. Even my celeron-based eeePC can convert to Droid format faster than that. On a recent system it should run at least 2-3x realtime for the standard Droid profile, and for the Droid HQ2 profile, it can drop to a little below real-time, but not 11 hours for a 1 1/2hr movie.

When you download one of the trailers from my trailer thread to your phone, do they play?

yes they played fine... i am not sure why its taking so long to convert... also i stopped gi joe halfway through the conversion and transfered it to my droid. I played the file which worked... however it showed the paramount screen and then skipped 20 minutes into the movie... I am confused.

GI Joe has a non-standard DVD protection system that scrambles scenes. There are a few movies that have this, including the recently released Star Trek movie. In most cases, these DVDs have additional tracks of the same length as the movie, and when you play the DVD on a stand-alone DVD player it displays the correct track number to use.

I should have noticed you mentioned GI Joe, but I missed it.

Try an older DVD first. GI Joe is not a good choice to troubleshoot your issue with.

It might be easier to email me instead.

While I don't mind troubleshooting on the forum, your questions have been asked before on these forums, and I have answered them (and in the same forum thread actually), and while each issue is individual, I don't think it is a good idea to flood the forums with DVD Catalyst-related posts.

Just use the email us button at the top of the program, or send me an email directly at

Re: Converting MPEG-4 movies

I wanted to test the new Droid X to see if it would play movie content.

I happened to have a digital copy of the new "Startrek" movie that I bought from a store in order to test my iPad when I got it.

Unfortunately, I ran the copy through iTunes, and I think it must have put some sort of copy protection on it, because it will not play. It plays fine on my desktop and iPad, but for some reason unknown to me, it will not play on the Droid X.

I also downloaded Handbreak and Video Converter, but since my copy is already an MPEG-4, I should not have to run it through a converter.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Digital copies I have found are useless since they have DRM if you get them from Apple or from a DVD. This is why it's better to rip your own.

As Black mentioned.
Digital Copies are useless.

They are wrapped with an activation DRM, which basically limits it use to devices and software that are compatible with this system.

There are programs that supposedly remove the DRM from these files, but they just play and record the file at the same time, just like the vhs dubbing days.

Hey all... I just downloaded the current TRIAL version of DVD Cat 3.86.2. I put in my copy of the "Kingdom" and after the scan it look like the output would be five separate files of varying length from 1:50:16 to 0:13:41. Was this the result of me running the trial version or is it a setting problem?

TIA!!!

Stan

Its not an actual "problem"

Please have a look here for information

i find it funny that they are posting instructions/product that is MOSTLY used for pirating DVD's but we get in trouble for posting similar things...hmmm

Does anyone know if this program will handle avi files. If not, what would be needed to convert those?

Yes. DVD Catalyst is not just for DVDs. It can convert AVI, MKV, and just about any other video file format as well as DVDs.

Just drag your files onto the program, and click Go.

(for Droid X, just select one of the Droid profiles already in DVD Catalyst. the settings in regards of video files is identical)
