RE: HOW TO: Convert DVDs and Videos for use with Droid

I was wondering if there is a way to convert videos that. Are already on a droid from avi to mp4 I downloaded a digital copy of a movie and want to know if there is a app or some way to convert it or make it viewable on my phone

I don't think so. At the moment there are no players that can handle AVI files, so I doubt that a converter on the Droid would be available anytime soon.

Basically transfer your avi to a computer, then convert it to mp4, and then transfer it back.

I tried to convert Transformers and the first Pirates movie tonight. Neither would work. I am guessing its because of the copy protection.

I did convert Bad Boys 2 and it looks great.

Transformers 2 has some issues due to its protection, but Transformers 1 as well as the 3 Pirates movies should work without issues.
Please make sure you are using the latest version by clicking on the cat-eyes in the program. There was an issue with some DVDs in 3.85, but this has been fixed in 3.85.1

No Audio

When I convert video from DVD Catalyst 3 to my motorola droid, i am not getting any sound on the droid. It plays just fine on my computer (Asus 2.4 core 2 duo, 4 gig memory, windows 7). The conversion setttings are:

Video Player Device: Verizon Droid HQ
Player Screensize: 848 x 480
Video Quality (kbps): 1000
Video mode: 1 pass
Sound quality (Kbps): 160
Audio Mode: Stereo

Conversion Format: h264_5.1_mp4

Any help would be really appreciated.

some people have reported issues with the Droid HQ profile. This was changed in the current 3.86 release to use h264_ipod as the conversion format, while the HQ2 profile works fine with the h264_ipod_hq format. I am not sure why, but for some reason the 1000kbps bitrate setting (which is the only difference with the HQ2 profile) is not working properly.
So, basically I would suggest to use the standard or the HQ2 profile, and I will take out the HQ one.

It does not make sense that 800Kbps and 1500Kbps works fine, but 1000Kbps does not, but thats what it comes down to.

Ok, Thank you very much, I will give it a try with those settings. Again thank you for your Super fast responses..dancedroid

Converted with these settings and it worked perfect. Thank you very Much

What am I doing wrong? I am using DVD Catalyst and it's showing that there is 2 hours of the movie converted, but when I transfer it to my droid, only 1/2 hour of the dvd is transferred over. Any suggestions?

Are you using the trial version?

The trial only converts 20-25% of each movie.
