When I did use a TK, I would kill the email apps or twitter apps because I thought they were slowing me down by running in the background. I found by killing them they could not update properly so I either wouldn't receive my notification or it would come in super late. That was my personal experience though, not saying it will happen to you. Should have clarified that in my post. I am not too familiar with how the linux system operates but I do know it is designed to run at proper efficiency even when you have a lot of apps "running".

lol pshhh no tk? do you guys use any type of task killer/manager or just let it be? i see what youre saying about messing up notifications and stuff though.
or would it be smart to have it just to use after booting/rebooting your phone?

no task killers for me. my phone locks up, reboots, etc. they are simply not needed android has a built in task killer that will kill any un used or un needed tasks.

there are many views on task killers and many other aspects of android, and most if not all come down to your personal preference..

just like some things work on some phones and other don'ts, every phone along with its user are different.. [some phones can handle a 1.3 ghz kernal, others can only handle a 800 mhz kernal, there all different.]

this is my personal preference, i use a task killer..

here is what i have for everyone interested..

i wipe my phone, whenever flashing a ROM, or anything, and after each new release of SD, i do the same..
i use the following to backup settings and such on my phone
-SMS Backup & Restore from DEV Ritesh Sahu [its free, but its a great program and i personally have donated to the DEV, he made a great program, best ive found/used]
-Backup Bookmarks by DEV Kazuyuki Eguchi [not very aestically appealing, but works flawlessly]
-Advanced Task Killer from ReChild

when flashing, i backup any contacts onto my SD Card just to be safe
then i backup my bookmarks, and SMS messages [i use the bookmark program, cause when google restores your bookmarks, they dont restore all the cookies and everything, the app i use saves everything, cookies, cache, passwords, your browser will be exactly the same after you restore the bookmarks

then i would wipe data/cache and the cache partiion

flash the ROM

then for some odd reason i wipe data/cache and cache partition again.. idk y.. lol

reboot

after signing in and syncing with google **see following in
[*] i restore SMS, and bookmarks,
**[remember after you sign in let your phone sit until it restore all your apps]
**[some say this doesn't work, but it does for me everytime, free and paid apps, just sign in and put your phone down for 15-20 min.. then restore SMS and bookmarks

after this i reboot the phone, and after booting, and the phone finishes scanning my SDCard and after the 3G icon stops sending/recieving data, then i use a task killer..

i don't use a task killer again, unless my phone starts lagging, or an app is taking a long time to load..

i also reboot my phone daily, some leave it on for days, but i shut my DROID off and give it a rest every morning when i take my shower..

thats just what i do.. lol..

**also in advanced task killer i use the ignor list, and exclude, email, gmail, Messaging, and facebook.. so use the ignor list put the apps that you want to keep running/updating on it..
ex. if you want email to update as it should then you can't kill it; same with facebook; and any other app that needs to update..

I just installed Succulent -
The boot animation is awesome but the phone is in a continuous reboot cycle (that shows the boot animation every time) for the last 10 minutes at least. Is this normal or did I brick it?

You will lose apps and settings but if you made a back up you should be set. Your apps should come back on their own. If not they will be in the market downloads section. If you backed them up then you can restore them that way as well.

Yea ifu have problems just wipe.. google backups most of your stuff on ur phone.. so just make sure u let it sync completely, the syncing icon may disappear, but ur droid isn't done syncing until it says apps restored, cause apps is the last thing that's restored..

First is contacts then bookmarks then apps

If you implemented the some of the new features from UD10, the calling/phone, 360 home rotation, etc. I think this would become an even more awesome replacement for UD....I just switched from UD to this. I like the almost weekly updates for this ROM and the quality. UD10 is good, but it's slow imho, Ultimate Droid 8-9 were the best.

Keep up the good work!

So far I really like Succulent! Just seem to be running into some minor glitches.

I cannot install Handcent. "Installation Error"
"Insufficient storage available"

This issue is inconsistent as I have installed some apps but others will error out. Android Terminal Emulator is another one that will not install.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

hey man, im not sure y your facing issues, i have terminal emulator installed, so i havn't had issues, try this..

boot into recovery backup your data, then wipe data and cache and cache partition

reboot sign in and see if you can download.. if you can then somehting in your data is messed up.. if you can't then its a rom/phone issue..

and then after you find out you can restore all your data if you like..

can anyone confirm whether or not they can install the above apps??
