[ROM] [ROM][AOSP][4.0.3][CDMA] Gummy 0.9.0 - 03/24/12 - The Remodel!

you allways need to wipe data after uodating or installing thr rom
I thought in your previous response I didn't have to. Well I wiped cache and Dilvik anyways so hopefully that was good enough. I have installed the rom and gapps and everything seems to be working. I'll see if I run into the gmail synch issue again.

Has anyone updated to the new touch CWM? I can't seem to install this ROM after installing that.

UPDATE: IF you have not updated to the new touch CWM don't as it doesn't work with this ROM.

Odd...I wonder why that is. Can't expect perfection from an alpha release though. I didn't really want to wipe my data anyway. :) This gives me an excuse to stay with my current setup a little longer.

I think that it's a general rule of thumb to always wipe data/cache before installing any new Rom or updated version of a Rom. This redundancy has to drive Devs insane. This is clearly stated in the OP.

Install:
  • Download the ROM
  • Download Gapps
  • adb reboot recovery
  • wipe data in CWM
  • install ROM
  • install gapps
  • reboot

LOL yes it's always advisable to wipe as I always do but not all ROMs require it and it's a pain to always be re-configuring things. Devs say that to be on the safe side as not all phones (hardware) are made equally. Some people get issues when they don't wipe while others are fine. Just like some kernels work for others while the same kernel doesn't work well with other phones. Case in point I didn't wipe data and "so far" my phone is working fine although I will have a better idea later on today.

I haven't caught up on this thread in a couple days, but I flashed Gummy yesterday and wanted to share my experience.

After the first flash I ran TiBu for my apps and a couple system data files... after reboot I started getting an incessant android.process.acore error about every 2 seconds. Went ahead and wiped and installed from scratch again and broke the TiBu into a couple steps, to narrow down the problem app. After half the day of narrowing it down to a smaller and smaller group (rebooting after every update) it seems that the error was/is caused by the [Contacts/Calls] data file in TiBu. So with that being said, I am now running stable and love the ROM. Great work!!

Welcome to the party Truss. I haven't made the jump to 4.2 yet, 3.8 is just running too well for me. Battery life is outstanding. If I get bored, I may update.

Is it bad I just realized Google Wallet is installed on my phone? I've had 0.3.8 installed for 2 days now. I am afraid to run it because of the secure element and other issues that have been going on. I did notice Google Wallet is listed in the "show cached processes" area. Does this mean I shouldn't have a problem with it?

Only way to know is to run it. Scary :(

Possible preventative measures?

From XDA:

Secure Element not responding!
If you have a Nandroid backup of a version of Wallet that worked, try restoring to that. Otherwise, you're screwed unless you get a new device. The Secure Element in your phone has now locked you out.

EDIT: research seems to show that Android is not actually enabling NFC-EE, which might be why it can't communicate with the SE. This needs further research.

To try to avoid this, before flashing a new ROM please, please, PLEASE: open Google Wallet. Open the Wallet Settings menu. Select "Reset Google Wallet" from within the app. THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS SELECTING "CLEAR DATA" FROM WITHIN MANAGE APPS!
The Google Wallet reset system will disable it's background services, reset the secure element by deleting the Google Wallet applet (which is what you want!), clear the database, ping C2DM that it is now deprovisioning, clear the shared preferences, clear files and cache, and finally shut itself down. Clearing data from Manage Apps will only delete the database and shared preferences: it will not deprovision, disable background services, and most importantly will not remove the Wallet applet from the secure element.

Does anyone know if the Wired/Wireless STOCK options work in this release? They were broken in 0.4.2. Connected to server to see if I was subscribed, F that. Not paying for internet twice.
