[ROM] ApeX 1.2 Series for Droid X - Functionality and Performance (12/7/10)

Question. I used the first froyo leak that put me at .9 then installed Apex v1.0 with the black theme. My android version shows 2.2 and kernel version shows 2.6.32.9-gfb07887w30471@il93lnxdroid08 #1. Can I install this on top of what i'm running or do I need to update to .15 or .320?

To run version 1.2.1, you need to be on .320. it is quite a different build, actually android 2.2.1 as opposed to 2.2 (for 2.3.9 and 2.3.15). In my opinion, your best option is to SBF back to 2.1, receive the 2.2 OTA, then flash the 2.3.320 leak. This is the theoretically the most surefire way to do it. I can provide you with 2.3.15 and 2.3.320 full SBF's if you need them, as well as the 2.3.320/2.2.1 update file.

Pretty sure .9 and .15 kernels are compatible though, so you could just flash 1.0.2.2 and call it a day ;)

Has anyone else been experiencing soft reboots sometimes while on calls or after turning the screen off and trying to turn it back on.

I am running the 1.2.1 leak version.

I was running jrummy's Droid Overclock and this had happened with it at ULV 1.1, LV 1.1, Medium 1.1. I was thinking this was causing it although I an not certain because I can sit and play a game till the phone dies. It only appears to happen on waking the screen for the must part.

Any ideas on ways to troubleshoot this would be appreciated.

On a side note I have SBF'd and tried to start fresh.

would you recommend I do a wipe data/cache first?

Yes, absolutely.

Are you using his app to set profiles for screen off and on? I was having issues with his profiles too, mostly, it never reverting back to 1100/400 when the screen turned back on (stayed at 400/400), so I just went back to using SetCPU to manage profiles.

I've been experiencing this on Apex v1. I haven't moved to the new version and was hoping that was fixed. Not sure what is causing it for me but it's usually after taking a phone call, hanging up and then unlocking the phone it will soft reboot.

I've also noticed that at times, if I receive a call after my phone has locked, the screen will not turn off until I manually unlock it, enter my security code, and then use the top button. Pressing the top button without doing those steps does nothing.

Any ideas?

I had to leave Apex V1.0 because of the soft reboots. Was even doing it at stock voltages so no clue what caused it. I had issues as well when I installed Apex 1.1 then went to 1.2 and then to 1.2.1 via the update. After a nandroid back to stock rooted Froyo (leak) I applied the full 1.2.1 all at once and have been running smooth for days. *Knocks on wood*.

I was although I was having the same issue so I switched back to set cpu. Then back to his app once he added the screen on option it fixed that problem. Although the issue occurred with both.

I am not sure it is actually related to the overclock since it is mostly occurs during screen on and I can play a game from full charge to dead with it at 1.1 ulv and not have and issue. When I close the game, turn the screen, then say go eat dinner. Then come back try to turn on the screen it soft reboots bringing me back to the Motorola M.

I wish Android OS had a log for the cause of the last reboot like windows does.

Mine just reboots from the boot logo - it doesn't go all the way back to the motorola logo and completely reboot the phone.

I was having the latter issue when I was playing around with voltages my phone didn't like.

Agreed in it happening sometimes after unlocking the phone. Thinking of though, I don't remember this occuring prior to applying the Revo theme. It may have, but I don't remember it.

Can anyone else having the issue tell us what theme your on?

Not sure if that actually could cause the issue but I thought it was worth asking.
