Okay, so I've already Rooted my D2, put on Rom manager (free version) and followed instructions to installing.
It asks me to back up/wipe cache and whatever and I press okay. Phone reboots and nothing happens. Could it be because i have the 2.3 update and not the 2.2.1 update the Rom is based on?
More than likely you didn't run bootstrap recovery first. Bootstrap allows the phone to boot and run CW recovery, which is needed to backup your image via ROM Manager
Please re-read what I wrote.
Bootstrap must be run FIRST (then just click OK) then you can use ROM Manager to backup your image. Using "bootstrap" to back up an image simply brings you to the recovery console --- just like ROM Manager does for you. Just two different ways of doing the same thing.
Make sure to "Allow" both Bootstrap and ROM Manager in superuser when asked.
You should probably read up a bit. Bootstrap is always the first move.
When you get stuck in a boot loop because of a forgotten step and you have to sbf back, things get ALOT more difficult...

I was just going off of what some guy on jeepforum.com (forum im ALWAYS on) said in the Android thread we have going. He left out bootstrap. But now I have apex installed and it's really nice. Pretty smooth.
So far so good with the ApeX rom. A little bit laggy at times and it drained my battery fast just like it were a new phone so I let it die and I'm recharging it now.
having a problem, dont know what im doing wrong or how to fix it..
when i try to install the aosp messaging app I type:
messaging -aosp
and it returns mount:Operation not permitted
then it says failed on: ..blahblahblah everything it needs to read from /system/app/messaging,conversations and mms
the it says at the end:
using AOSP MMS app.
Oh ok, good because I love this ROM so far, the fly in/fly out stuff is my favorite. But it is definitely a lot faster than the stock stuff. Keep it up!
