[ROM] TWO roms?? This guy's crazy!

Unfortunately.. I don't sync my facebook contacts onto my phone. I prefer to keep facebook completely separate. So I'm not sure how much help I can be on this one. (Drod might be able to assist you more)...

Seph, I haven't installed the Facebook for Android yet as I am afraid they will change every dang contact which I want to keep separate, also. Do you recall when you install Facebook, if the contacts will change like they do on HTC Sense? Thanks.

Hmm, so... there's the facebook that comes with the stock phone that's integrated with contacts... that I simply do not use. Then there's the market facebook app., which I DO have installed. Nothing shows up differently in my contacts due to that facebook application. What did HTC Sense change exactly? If it made changes to the contacts on the phone itself, I can say that the market facebook app seems to not affect us in that way!

OH, and suggest for testing yourself! Take a backup from within recovery (nandroid backup), and THEN install it, then test thoroughly. :) If it does something you're not happy with, just restore. Can't tell you how many times I've done this while testing...

Very interestingly my gmail wont send mail anymore. I have been running blurry for awhile with no problems. I even went to a clean backup...any ideas. I can receive mail, browse, use facebook apps.
thanks

By "won't send mail".. do you mean that it's not sync'ing to your phone (push email, notification, etc.)?
If so, then first thing to check is Menu> Settings> accounts> your google account> sync gmail

By "won't send mail".. Do you mean that when you compose and send a message from your phone, that it never leaves your phone?
If so, then first place to look, is your outbox. Something's stuck. :P
To check: gmail app> Menu button> go to labels> Outbox.
Hard way, just clear the oldest message, and hope it's the one that was causing the problem.. wait.
Easy way, just clear them all out.
Then try sending another message, bet you'll have more luck.

Hope this helps!

The mail just sits in the outbox...I tried what you suggested a couple times and again just now and no luck. Any other ideas? Uninstall and reinstall gmail?

When you clear the outbox, mail still just sits there? Interesting... this happened to my wife's X, and just had to clear out the offending message (HUUUGE picture), and they all started sending.

If clearing out all messages in the outbox doesn't work, just go clear the data and cache for it once, and give it another shot.
It'll be slow for a few, because it will have to re-cache all of your inbox messages... but once it's done that, hopefully thing will be back to normal. :)

Awesome tidbits, thanks! I'll certainly download the market version :)

HTC and Facebook for WM linked my contacts and I completely hated it. Not sure of HTC Sense on Android.

Ahh, I didn't know.
But yea, at least the MotoBlur integrated facebook just "links profiles" in contacts. But even then... what a messy solution. I want my contacts truly in one place, so I just keep everything up to date within my google contacts, and facebook can just be facebook. I much prefer it that way!

Speaking of integration vs separating, most of us are with Google and can't remove/delete ourselves from some services/products that they offer without canceling the whole account. :icon_ deal:

Well that fixed it...I hadn't sent any large messages so that's just weird. Thanks for the help!!

Ahh, yes! And this is a touchy subject for many!

Some take it a lot deeper than others.. there *are* some services that can be detached/closed/deleted once connected, but they are few, and for how long! heh.

I guess as far as that goes... I used to run my own bookmarks toolbar/sidebar (called Sitebar), my own www site (apache/phpmod), email(postfix)/webmail(squirrelmail), calendar, etc. etc. etc. etc. on my own server at home... and when I was ready to get out of the game of updates every week or two breaking things... google was there to answer the call. Some people haven't gone through the horror of trying to maintain their own, and therefore aren't as thankful as I for a solution that handles it all like google. BUT! I also TOTALLY see both sides. Trying to break away, even from parts can be a nightmare.

Just like google touts integration with their search, cal/mail/etc., MS Smartphones will do the same with Bing/hotmail (live mail is it now?)/etc., just as Apple has MobileMe (paid, of course)... if you're not going to do it yourself, you're going to have to trust your data to someone... and google has been the "least evil" that I've seen so far... so *shrug*

Not trying to back up any side of it.. but I've definitely seen multiple perspectives of that concern, and currently, there just isn't a good answer... unfortunately.

I installed Focused 0.5 on my lady's X and her contacts sync photos with Facebook.

I do NOT have the Facebook Blur app installed. Only the Facebook from the market (which unlike my Droid1, doesn't give you an option to sync contacts).

How did I get them to sync? Go to My Accounts, click on add account, add your Facebook info, accept the Motorola crap, and it will ask if you want to use Facebook to sync photos. It takes a bit of time for the contacts to update, but as of this morning they are all synced up in the contacts app.

Not sure about Messaging app, haven't looked, but it's definitely possible to sync FB photos to contacts via rubix Focused right after a clean install.

It's the contacts app and framework/services that Drod used.
IF you put your facebook account into the actual "MyAccounts" application, or Menu> Accounts> add account... then you'll get facebook integration with your contacts.
IF you just download the market app, and only put your account info within that app... they should NOT integrate.

Very good to know. Thanks, Seph!

Are there any issues with the Focused version and the stock camera app? Camera doesn't seem to.be focusing right and the pictures aren't very crisp.
