[ROM] VZW_2.4.5 - Stars Wars, No Star Wars, Clean & Super Clean

Cp30

CP30 showed his stink gold ass again. If anyone sees him bouncing around the ROM can you tell me where so I can get rid of him...damn lightsaber was gettting repaired :P

There is no SBF for the R2-D2 yet so if something goes wrong you are kind of screwed...

I realize there is no SBF - that's why I'm not keen on trying it out without more knowledge. I assume you know of someone who tried this on their R2 and something happened. What went wrong?

I'm an Android developer, so I am intimately familiar with the internals. ADB is one of my best friends... I don't have a problem fixing stuff if something breaks. Bricking my phone is the only thing worrying me. As long as I can get to a shell with ADB, I'll be fine :)

Thanks for creating this in the first place - I appreciate all the work you've done. I will be hacking more on it when I get home tonite: make a nandroid backup, factory reset, grab images of the system and data partitions before the first boot, build my own SBF, restore the backup and see what happens when I install the rom (after modding build.prop to match my hardware)...

With the bootstrap being as it is there is no sure fire way to get into it if a problem happens. Without getting into bootstrap you will not be able to get into ADB shell. I am not sure if you get into the shell when you are stuck in a boot loop or at the M logo.

If you want to create your own SBF someone did that for the Droid 1 and I think I read instructions or he stated very clearly how he did it. I do not have a link to the thread handy but will look for it. Might be good reference material. I wll look for it really qucik and then edit this post with the URL. If you are going to flash the R2-D2 make sure you are using RSDLite 4.8 or 4.9. Those are the only ones that work with R2-D2

When/if you do a factory reset and grab the images off the first boot may you please post them or send me a link.

The ROMs should work on the R2-D2 version since it came off of that device. I am just suggesting to people not to do it cause if something does go wrong then it could be bricked for the time being.

For the SBF, search by user for MotoCache1. I believe he had some posts about how the SBF is laid out.

ro.build.version.full was changed just to match the hardware...

If you want to work on the SBF just tell me what you want in your ROM and I will build it for you (unless you want too) while you do the SBF file.

I have him as my contacts that call me that do not have a picture set, that's the only place I've seen him so far.
Thanks for all your hard work, it is appreciated.

Moto I just wanna say you are awesome loving the super clean rom. Great work, and thank you for your time and effort bringing the best to d2. You are like the blackdroid of d2. I don't have much to give but pm me with info and I will donate. Thanks again and loving the rom. Can't wait to see what u can do once the bootloader is unlocked.

Absolutely! I wanted to grab 'em when I first got the phone, but I was too excited about maybe finally finding the droid I was looking for ;) (don't think this is the one - I find that Alt-Lock key offensive)

Thanks for the info - that makes me feel better about it. I'll definitely be giving it a shot after work and I have taken enough precautions to make myself comfortable. I'll let you know how it goes.

Still waiting on my R2...

So I'm still waiting on Verizon to call and tell me my phone's in. I guess that's good because its given me time to read and re-read a couple of these threads.

Basically what I've gathered is:

-R2 has a newer build (2.4.5) and can't accept the 2.4.0 ROMs.
-There seems to be only one dev working on a 2.4.5 ROM. Thanks Moto!
-There isn't a .sbf for 2.4.5 so if one screws something up, they're SOL.

Now a couple questions...

-Who's gonna step up and create this .sbf file? I'm a concert promoter/graphic designer not a programmer.
-Is there even enough interest for this file? I would assume so, but seeing as how most of the devs don't own an R2, it's kinda questionable.

I originally stated I wanted to root and flash some custom ROMs. But now, even though I'm fully confident rooting, flashing, running RSDlite on the D1, I'm having second thoughts. But I have 30 days to return and I'm crossing my fingers more ROMs and the .sbf file will be available before then.

I see donations to those involved.

I can help you test if needed. At least I can get back to 2.20 if anything screws up.

Hopefully DevMan can get one going...

Nope the R2-D2 will not accept any SBF files for D2 so far. They changed the bootloader from the D2 to R2-D2. It is the same changes that were made to the DX when their 2.2 came out. I am going to guess that VZ will have a 2.4.5 update or something newer soon for the D2.

The Droid community does not create SBF files, they have all been leaked. I don't know if they are possible to create, but given I've never heard it discussed before.

SBF files have a consistent history of "leakage" so it does seem like a 2.4.5 SBF will eventually show up.

SBF files can be edited/hacked/created. Just have to have the right tools and the know how. Back in the day we use to modify some nextel phones using file formats very similar, if not the same as SBF.

Take a look at MotoCahe1's Root thread for the Droid 1. He has some custom SBF files that he made.

So i see the removed packages folder, but how do i install the .apks in there? I tried clicking and it prompts to install...then it says failed
