I was wondering the same thing when I saw the HDMI option at the top of the screen as well...the HDMI stuff is evidently there to enable DLNA to work, hopefully it won't be a Gallery/sound vs. DLNA trade off (though I don't use DLNA, so I wouldn't miss it).
Good catch on the additional sound issue info - I checked and confirmed that I've also lost sound in other apps - tried Pandora and Listen (podcasts) - they show that they are playing, but no sound.
I was listening to podcasts on Listen earlier in the morning, so it did work before trying to watch the video.
Only sound working for me is for phone calls, both internal and speaker work for calls, so it's confined to media...I'm going to reboot.
reboot will "fix" it... tried playing a recorded video thru rockplayer, and all is well. something with the blur gallery/video player and HDMI is what is messing with it....
