[HACKS] Root Droid 1 - regardless of OS version

If being rooted isn't what broke the camera...
Why would you worry about un-rooting before you return the phone?

Yes. As far as I have heard, asurion doesn't care about rooting.

Won't they want to inspect the pjhone to see if the camera is fixable?
They wiill want to transfer data between phones.

I guess I should copy over the SD card to my pc too get to my titanium backups?
How wil the Market what I have paid for?

Is there a way in ClockMod Recovery or another app that completes wipes the phone?

They should send you a phone. You take the sdcard and battery out of your phone and install it in the new one. And yes factory reset or wipe data and cache will work as well.

In any event, can we please take any further discussion of unrooting, assurion, and broken cameras to a different thread? I should have mentioned that before when guidot and I were trying to be very brief.

This thread is 140 pages long and has 1400+ posts and it's topic is how to root the Droid 1 regardless of OS, so any deviation from that topic makes it more of a mess than it already is.

Thank you.

New member here and just wanted to say thanks to MotoCache and everyone who put these awesome instructions and advice on rooting the Droid.

I am a total noob at this this type of thing but after thoroughly reading MotoCache's steps (and some side researching of terms) I couldn't believe how easy it was. Got it done in less than 5 minutes on the first try!

Thanks again and long live the Droid!

when i try to run rsd lite as an administrator the box is unchecked and grayed out and uncheckable. Is there something i'm doing wrong.

are you following the entire step from the op?

[...]remember to run rsd lite as administrator by right clicking its menu choice and choosing "run as administrator". if you don't have such an option, you may be able to right click on the shortcut, choose "properties", and check "run this program as administrator" [pic].
i don't have a win 7 box so that tip came from someone who does that piloted the process and had the same problem as you.

hey may be talking about the actual box in properties being grayed out..
But coming from microsoft's forums:
Code:
"do you have administrator rights to the computer? Are you currently login with the administrator account?
Do you have the user account control disable by any chance? Reenable uac will give you the run as administrator back."

enableing uac should work
this don't work for vista??????????????

so, when i do RSD Lite, it doesnt see my phone, i've tried both the auto detect and the first come first server option... i'm running windows 7 64-bit and i DID run RSD in Administrator mode. . . Any helpzorz???

final screen....

So, im on that screen. it worked perfectly up to that point... but i realized i forgot to put the update.zip onto the SD card prior to starting the process. . . how do i exit out of that gold android screen so that i can go put the Update.zip into the droid? should i just power it down?? or....

EDIT: Nevermind. figured it out..

EDIT2: IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WIRELESS HOTSPOT!!!! :D :D :D
