Yeah I was able to get all my facebook friends to appear but some of them who I know have their numbers on facebook arnt showing up in my contacts (the numbers). And since I am using the regular launcher because I like the 3D menu, does that mean I cant customize the bottom buttons?

Hey guys. This is my first ROM and I love it! However I do have a few problems, so if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great!

So first off, I backed up my contacts using lookout, mybackuppro, and the regular backup assistant. However when I try to restore them it only restores 36 contacts. Some of my old contacts were numbers on facebook added through Blur but I also added some manually yet there not in the backups. Is there anyway I can retrieve the contacts or sync the facebook ones back to my phone?

Second question: Is there anyway I can change where the email and talk launcher icons go? Because I dont use google talk and want the email button to go to my yahoo not gmail. Thanks!

For contacts, IIRC there was an issue with Backup Assistant not syncing with Contacts on the phone or something like that.

Regardless, from memory (it's been a while), here's what I did:
1) Using File Manager, locate the latest .vcf file, ex. 0001.vcf. I believe it
is in /sdcard. If you have Root Explorer, use that to search for .vcf.
2) Long hold on the file and choose 'Send'. Email it to yourself as
attachment.
3) From your PC, go to your phone's Gmail account, download and save the attached file for easy access. Then under Mail, Contacts > Import Contacts
4) Browse for the vcf file you saved, then 'Import' the contacts.

That's it. Make sure the phone has sync turned on for your gmail acct. Now you'll never need worry about losing contacts again and won't need to backup anywhere.

I use th launcher pro on rubix and i want to go in to landscape mode when i rotate my screen while on my homescreen. But it just stays it doesnt rotate. Is there a way to patch this or somthi g cuz i dont like to use adw launcher i like the launcher pro

Go into settings and make sure screen rotztion is enabled

A simple question or two.
what setting do most use.
-ondem is the setting I have it on.

When I play modern.combat2 or splintercell con.
Is that a case where ondemand would ramp up.
I tell you what. Splinter cell runs like a dream.

Just loaded Rubix and it's SNAPPY! I've noticed on this (and every other rom I've installed) that I am getting email notifications EVERY TIME my phone checks, rather than just when I get an email (annoying when it's set to check every 5 minutes). Is this a setting I need to change?
Also-
I seem to lose several of my contacts as well as speed dial settings.
Is there a restore step I am missing or restore that I need to do AFTER I install the rom? I admit I am new to the ROMS but I am hooked and I need help from the pros. Thanks!

Speed dial is a blur thing, would have to use a dialer on the market in order to get it back.

About the email, im not sure why that's happening, Ive never had that happen.... try changing it to waiting longer to check?

When will the VPN issue be fixed?

Hi,
This ROM is fantastic! Thank you for spending so much time on it.
I cannot get VPN working. After searching the forums for my problem, I see that this problem was first mentioned in 1.9.5 and was going to be fixed.

Sadly, I saw another user mention in this 2.0.1 thread that the issue is still not fixed, but I didn't see anyone answer him.

I need VPN access for my job. Will it be fixed soon or is there a workaround?

You might want to try RubiX Blurry. I believe VPN is part of the blur packages that are available in a blur-based ROM.

Side note: drod no longer has an X. Which I think means RubiX is no longer really supported. Guess we won't be seeing GB anytime soon... unless it's official.

So, I have my X rooted and have done a full backup using bootstrap recovery. I also have titanium Backup and have done a full backup there.

This will be my first ROM attempt. When it says Download and install to SD card is that the raw .zip file? So put the whole thing on the SD card. do a full reset with bootstrap and then run the .zip to install?

That will work just backup your stock rooted rom then you will be set make sure you backup
