rubiX Focused on .340 OTA

Just to make sure my ducks were in a row (took ten minutes) I sbf'ed the full .320 sbf from tbh. When that was done I the sbf'ed the .340 system only file. You then have to install the z4root apk to your sd card cuz its off the market and reroot the phone. Then I simply reflashed Rubix 1.90 and installed the black juice theme. Once done everything is great and because Drod makes the market recognize the right rom it actually downloads your apps unlike using tranquility or running stock .340 which removes market data for some reason.

hmm my market didnt load. everything else is working tho

market didn't load for me either but that's what app brain is for :D
good safety net.

If you SBF to 3.320 then upgraade to 3.340 will you ever be able to do a verizon ota upgrade again?

my plan was to sbf back to 3.15 do a verizon OTA to 3.340, when available, root and backup then apply rubix.

good question. I think yes, but not sure.

If you are still on 2.3.15, just grab the official update.zip files from the OTA, then you'll be on .340 without a problem.

Is there a REALLY good reason for getting the OTA update? If all your gonna do is accept the update then re root the phone and install rubix whats the point? Am I missing something?

The reason would be that depending on the changes built into the update, new versions of rubix will require it. This is true from this point forward if you did not install the leak. I'm not sure that Drod would continue to develop for the older 2.3.15 build anymore.

Just a quick note, on .340, the new vibration of the phone is tripping me out.:icon_eek:
I suppose maybe I am not reading something correctly....while I understand future releases of rubix will have the new framework...and this is where I may be confused....right now I can sbf my phone back to.stock if something.goes wrong...if I allow the new update with the bootloader change and all that, will there be a way to.sbf back to stock with the new ota? I was under the impression the full sbf had not been released. I thought the one from TBH was a system only and not the full version like we have now?

I am going to SBF back to stock. As long as Verizon is supporting the device I want to be able to perform OTA updates if needed. Once the X is retired and if I continue to use, all bets are off :)

The link for update.zip is shut down due to too much traffic

Full SBF for .340 hasn't been released but technically according to P3Droid you don't really need it.
you can full sbf to .320 and then system sbf to .340 and be at stock OTA at that point.

I saw somewhere that they wouldn't be releasing anything but a system sbf for .340 because it's not needed.

does that help?

So is the .340 OTA available now? I sbfed yesterday to .15, did system update and it said that I was up to date.

Yeah, it came out for a short while early yesterday. Presumably for a small batch of test users.

It's available to download from several location so that you can run it manually.

I've got it in my dropbox account here. If that's not working, just search google or the other popular android forums/blogs and you'll find it.

Thanks! Was able to get it from your dropbox. I am currently sbfing back to .15. After I'm done, how do I install .340 from update.zip? Also, do I need to wipe data/cache etc. before doing .340 install or before installing rubiX 1.90 for leak?

put the update.zip on the root of your SD card.
boot into stock recovery
apply update.zip

I would do the wipe before you install the leak of rubix 1.90

So, im on rubix focused 1.9.0 leak for 2.3.32.......

instructions below state that all i need to do is use 2.3.34 SBF SYSTEM ONLY
is that correct coming from rubix rom, or do i need to 2.3.32 sbf first?

Upgrading from 2.3.320 to 2.3.340
To upgrade from the leaked 2.3.320 to the official 2.3.340 requires you to flash the system only sbf flash file, you will be odexed, or official.

Step One: Download the 2.3.340 system only file (currently only available in the TBH app.

Step Two: Using Rsdlite, install the system only sbf file to your phone.

Step Three: enjoy the newest software and Madden 2011.

So that's debatable.
I followed those instructions but then some folks, that are probably smarter than me, commented and said I went in a loop and explained why.

If you are on .320 you are pretty much already running .340 because there are hardly any differences. P3Droid, Drod and others have stated that.

Now, since the .340 SBF released by TBH is a system only SBF as soon as you install the rubiX 1.90 (leak) which has the .320 system folder it will effectively overwrite the .340 system sbf you just did...

at least that's my understanding.

I'm gonna stay where I am until Drod updates rubiX with the .340 /system.

Someone jump in here if i'm wrong.

yeah, i'm glad i was able to take one for the team with that one :D
lol... Yep thats what im thinking... the only thing gained is madden... is it really worth it..............

And only one quarter of Madden at that! I downloaded the update.zip and then didn't install it but just extracted the Madden11.apk hehe.

i'm sure drod won't include it. although he does include NFS Shift in 1.90. Maybe games aren't considered blur? :D
