Hold down X and then turn on power and don't let go off X but can let go of power button.

and wait until u get ! with triangle and then press the search button on the keyboard and u will be in normal recovery..

Go to reboot from there see if u can get into CW recovery if not then do the same thing by holding down X and turning on the power. Then do wipe data and cache then reboot.

i did the x and power... got to the triangle... pressed search... got the boot menu... did the wipe of data and cache and rebooted, but its the same story. stuck at the M.

btw i called vzw, played dumb, they had me do the same process..and just said to send it back and they would give me another one, should ahve it tuesday (i wont be making the same mistake twice)

my only concern now is will vzw me able to see that the phone had been messed with (root, etc), or has basically all evidence of its use been erased by the data wide in the boot menu?

im worried that vzw will get the phone back and not refund me for the replacement (they charged my 250 or whatever until they get my phone back, there in they will give me the 250 back)

i feel like i can smooth talk the whole thing if they do, but im just covering my bases...

interstingly the whole reason i was hacking around with my phone to begin with is cause they install all that bloat, and i jsut wanted a stock android experience, no frills, just a lot of free memory, and wireless tether.

There is a sbf file listed at rootzwiki:

Droid 2

Let us know if that works for you. You need rsd lite 4.7 and its drivers, I believe.

edit: doh, the above is for droid 2, not the global phone, sorry.

i know how u feel my replacement is coming in mail Tuesday too[my is boot looping from the red eye] and worried that when i send this one back they will not refund me. I don't think i'll ever mess with this phone again unless there is sbf released and it's 100% safe. This is the reason why droid 1 kicks ass, never had problem with it since it was so easy to load a customize rom or theme!!

with out a d2global sbf there is no way to recover your device other than flashing a nandroid backup from clockwork recovery.

i am just wondering how can verizon found out if your phone has been rooted? if it does not go past the red eye. I did do factory reset from the normal recovery and CW recovery is erased from boot. They would have to flash sbf to get it booted up?

if i can get to the "android system recovery screen" (which i can) by pressing the search button after doing the X + power button turn on...

would the option to apply sdcard:update.zip be of use?

that is what i would think

I'm going to assume the people who hunt down leaked SBFs either don't have a D2G or don't care. It's why the hacks on the radio lock stalled.

Edit: I retract that radio part. It seems AngDroid is taking a shot at it.

The band unlock radio hack has been done and I don't think Angdroid is going to figure it out...it involves the use of unreleased proprietary software to do it.

People don't "hunt down leaked SBFs" generally speaking.

They either know people who have access to them or they don't. ;)

Same happen to me ..
go back were you bought it and say the phone got all loopie. And you have no idea why. Customer is always right! ! I assure you this will be exchanged, bring your box and charger too. No luck is needed since they will happily exchange it for you.

Do you mind adding some references backing up this statement?
