Seidio 2600mAh extended battery

cosmetics re the Seidio 2800 batt?

Do those of you who have the Seidio ex batt have any issue with the oversize battery and cover? Do you find it annoying, or do you not notice it?

Thanks for your feedback.

Cosmetically, it doesn't bother me. And as others have said, it actually feels better to hold in one's hand now since it "fits" better in it. It still fits nicely in my pocket as well. I pretty much use it on weekends and use the stock during the workweek. I can't have cell phones in my work place at all beyond the lobby, so I primarily use the hell out of it during the commute. But non work days call for that extra power, and the minuses in the looks of the extended battery protruding a tad are far less than the pluses of the extra power.

+1 for that. I keep it in a holster (which I got from Seidio) which is designed for the extended battery.

I've found that after removing my stock or extended batteries from the Seidio wall charger that neither is ever at a full 4204-4207mV charge. They're usually at about 4179mV as soon as the phone powers up. Same as when i leave my phone and standard battery in the Motorola multimedia cradle. I end up having to charge the phone directly from the wall outlet for a few minutes before the battery is truly full.

For what it's worth, stock battery should not be much above 3700 since it's a 3.7 volt battery.

3.7 is the nominal operating voltage... not what it will be directly after a charge.
Once its had a load on it for a while, 3.7 is a nominal operating area.. but by no means does it stay there.

We are talking about very tiny voltage differences... thats what makes it harder to monitor Lithium as they are rock solid with little voltage change compared to other chemistries.

Alkaline is rated at 1.5 volts.. but brand new out of the box, you will find 1.7.... NiMh is rated at 1.25 volts, but after a charge it too will be higher.

The act of booting up pulls a fair amount of power.. if you reboot after pulling off the charge, then you may see the voltages you see as normal... if you reboot while on the charger and once everything is up and running "then" you unplug from the charger, you will see 4200 or slightly less.

If the battery is cold it shows less too.

I could'nt imagine killing off this 2800mAh completely, it is a monster, and the contour of the extended battery is perfect

What would the symptoms be for a "bad" extended battery?

I'm getting on the average 30-36 hours, with 5 full drain and charge (14+ hours). It's probably OK, but if it isn't I want to be able to return it in time.

Do you still have to use an app to monitor the life left?
Yes

Think of it this way; you've removed your old gas tank and put one in almost twice the size, BUT you've kept the original sending unit. It's gonna say you're out of gas long before you actually are. The app is a new sending unit (although it's not quite there yet).

I agree but it does have potential, I am currently calibrating battery left for my 2800mAh I think the hardest part is not charging it untill it goes dead to get a proper calibration, who knows where you will be when it's empty

I would change if a better, more concise app were available....

Me too, I still believe someone can rewrite the MotoDroids firmware succesfully.
