[ROM] [SELFKANG ICS AOSP ROM] "AOKP" (Android Open KANG Project) [NIGHTLIES]

I don't have an app for listening to music. I went on the SD card from a file viewer and tried to play music but it said the app was missing. Anyone know why??

Hey guys I flashed the 03/31 nightly and so far the only problem I have found is the bluetooth is still not turning on but everything else is working so far a lot smoother I think good job Hashcode and team KANG on this rom I'm sure you guys had a lot of issues since the 4.0.4 update keep up the good work guys wish I had as much dedication as you guys

can you just flash over the current one or do i have to go through the whole wipe everything process?

B

ok. easy enough.

next question: what can i do to back up my apps? i dont have a lot but im really tired of having to redownload stuff

B

My Backup Pro is a great app to back up apps it backs up the apps and will reinstall them all for you. Make sure you reboot when it tells you to otherwise you may have problems and won't be able to use your apps till you do. Another app you might like is Mobile Backup II; it will back up Calender, SMS, Contacts, and Call log

Maybe I am more of a traditionalist, but I do it thru safestrap.
1. Make a backup
2. Flash new ROM
3. Flash GAPPS
4. Wipe data / cache / dalvik
5. Go to backup/restore; advanced restore
6. Choose backup file, and select to restore just DATA
7. Reboot

I heard from a developer ( to remain nameless) that restoring data from a previous rom especially if the framework is different it would cause problems :)

Especially if the ROMs are from a different version of android!

Wipe data if flashing from a 2.2 to 2.3 based rom, or 2.3 to 4 based rom. Heck just wipe everything to be safe. Also, different ROMs may have a similar base framework, but any small change can cause a glitch

Restoring data from a stock 2.3.4 (.608 OTA) D2G to CM7 nightlies causes the status bar to die completely on startup. Restoring data between any of the GB roms causes anything from soft bricking to broken apps.

anymore issues with 03/31?

Ive noticed some random stuff with 3/21 like calls not going out (reboot fixed it), touch or external keyboard not typing (reboot fixed), data not working on some app (reboot has not fixed), randomly switched internal keyboards from english to japanese (reboot did not fix, had to switch it in settings)

Never had those problems here. I've noticed people having issues like that and wonder since I haven't had those issues is because on the stock rom I have the latest update 5.7.906 which updated radio, kernal and a few other things. I'll have to ask Hashcode about that and see what he thinks and report back here with an answer :)

FYI: A current issue with the nightlies right now is a nasty bluetooth / gps bug. AOKP added their own project for handling the bluetooth/gps modules and it's conflicting with what we have in place atm.

I'm troubleshooting it and hope to have a solid fix soon (tm). But I wouldn't update to any of the latest nightlies for now.

Essentially, it loops in the background attempting to load the Bluetooth / GPS modules over and over.

Has the weird screen issue been fixed? where it would be landscape with keyboard closed and portrait with keyboard open?
