[ROM] [SELFKANG ICS AOSP ROM] CM9/ICS for Droid 4 -- [BETA 03/05/2012]

Installed it fine. Considering I had about 400 free RAM on stock debloated, I didn't think there would be much of a performance difference... But there is in fact quite a difference lol. It even gives off the impression that download speeds from the Market are quicker, I guess due to stock bottle-necking performance. I'm completely aware the Market is now Google Play, but that sounds dumb.

Also, I have a question. Is it necessary to keep a backup of both safe and non-safe modes? Even though I'm using my Droid X's 16GB mSD, these backups take up a lot of space compared to my X's 200-300MB backups lol.

That may not fix it. If you are syncing your contacts with Facebook, or your exchange service, Gmail may not have control over that. I use Gmail, Exchange, Google+ & Facebook. Whenever I flash a new ROM from scratch, I have to manually join my contacts like how I described it.

I'm assuming when he's importing, the same thing is happening. That's why I don't restore from Gmail or sync there anymore, I export my VCard file, and then re-import from the SD card after a full wipe. it's a lot cleaner and easier.

No I haven't synced my fbook contacts yet but I kinda understand what ur saying....I'm just having doubles of contacts. No email contacts synced or fbook contact synced..just billy bob 555-5555 and billy bob 555-5555 again

I'm going off of memory here. I had this problem with my Droid X. There's a app called 'My Backup Root'. Download that. Now this is where I'm not sure of what to do. But I think what you do is back up your contacts with the app. And then restore the contacts with the app and the back up you just made. Soon as it starts, forceclose the app. Reason being, I'm almost positive it erases all your contacts before restoring the backup. Then you can restore them from Gmail or however you like. But you might have to do what someone else said with GMail (I've never done it) merge the duplicates.

Does anyone know why I keep getting texts from the number 6250 saying 'VZWNMN:1' ? It didn't start until after I flashed this.

Will this cause any problems?
I installed the artic rom and had problems so I abanded it and erased the zip after I made a backup of coarse like the usual..then made a back up and installed cm9 and having no problems except wifi...so since everything is fine how do I back up while on this rom ? Rom manager and rom toolbox app has a option called rom backup..is that it?

And when I turn on wifi an put in password it says authenticating an then says authenticating problem..any ideas?
And under network mode is lte(4G), cdma, and gsm...what's gsm?

Only question I can answer is the ROM manager question. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I saw somewhere that it's very bad to use it on the Droid 4, or at least on this ICS port.

Dang wow...well thanks for telling me...would it be a good idea to run fixed permissions thru rom toolbox then to help fix the wifi connection?

I'm not sure about the fixed permissions part, I wouldn't use that unless someone with more experience says it's safe. Did you wipe/format everything necessary before flashing the ROM? That may be the cause for WiFi not working. Because this is the first time I flashed any ROMs on my Droid 4, I flashed all that was told in the safestrap guide, and WiFi works fine. Though it does seem a little slower, maybe it's just me.

Also, I think it's amazing how the keyboard lighting can be changed. But can this cause any adverse effects on the hardware?

Yes sir. I wiped data and wiped cache....
Change kb light as in what? Thought it was either on or off

Sorry, if I knew more about the ROM I'd be able to help. And as I change the brightness from Dim, through the 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%, the keyboard light changes with it. It's awesome.

Some problems I've experienced so far. This is the first time I flashed this ROM and I did wipe everything I was told to -
Pressing any keyboard button doesn't turn on the screen.
Keyboard buttons won't light up unless automatic brightness is used or unless you toggle after each time you turn the screen on.
Not sure why or when, but my 4G went out and I couldn't manage to get it to reconnect. (I'm sure someone posted a workaround). Edit: can't manage to get it to connect to 3G or 4G, even after multiple reboots and switching from GSM to LTE.
And I can't manage to have my phone vibrate upon receiving any kind of notification. I always leave my phone on silent, but have it vibrate.

It's a very nice ROM, but like others said the data problem makes it hard to stick with the ROM. I'll wait for a better nightly/release. I don't think I would tolerate the bug that doesn't allow the keyboard to wake the phone, except on this ROM. I hate the power button and I always use the keyboard button, but this ROM is just that awesome.

on 3/14 and done the LTE to 3G switch 4 times this morning without issue.

I have yet to test WIFI to LTE or 3G yet, as I don't have WIFI to test. Maybe someone else can confirm this, but looks like the 3G to LTE hand off has been solved!! Awesome!!
