[ROM] [SELFKANG ICS AOSP ROM] CM9/ICS for Droid 4 -- [BETA 03/05/2012]

Right now the 4/30 rom is having INSANE battery issues for me. the batter is running down probably around 1% / 5 min. I have a screen shot of the battery statistics I will post later I have been charging it for 2 hours from dead and it is at 60% trying to get to 100% to flash a new nightly. The phone is heating up really hot too.

Have you tried just rebooting? I had an issue like that on stock a few days ago. Phone heated up really bad seemingly out of nowhere and battery started draining like crazy. It happened right after I took some pictures but not sure if that had anything to do with it. Turned the phone off. Waited a few minutes. Turned it back on and it was fine.

Data issues are hit and miss, and seem to be dependent on where you live, more than on the actual OS.

I haven't had data issues at all since 4/12 builds, except for the short trip I took to Las Vegas, where the data issues were so poor the ROM was unusable.

My wife has the exact same phone, with the exact same ROM, and I update them both each morning to the new release, and again, no issues.

Where do you live??

Oh sorry, San Antonio where they have a strong 4G signal...but I'll have to wait to depend on this ROM. The data dropped permanently within 4 hours, and camera had bad lag.

I don't want to get peoples hopes up but since I have flashed 05/02 after going up and down my building elevators 4 times (effectively killing all signals and where I was running into issues restoring data.) I STILL have full working 4g. Just sitting around working for the day so I will update as I use my phone more.

* Been using 4g all day. Up and down the elevators losing signal and it comes back full each time. rom is working like a charm. Now we just need the video camera but I am already SUPER happy with the work hashcode has done on this so far! Keep it up!

camera seems good.

video doesnt crash, but doesnt record either.

Keyboard backlight has worked in ever build i've run. It continues to work in 5/2.

Alright :)

The recent posts have revived my faith in the rom, now what exactly have a I got to do to update? Just clear the dalvik and regular cache, then flash right?

Mobile Connection

I go in and out several times a day into areas where cell service is non-existent (College classrooms) and areas where 4G lte service is spotty (switches from 4g to 3g and back all the time)
The rom will work for several (8+) hours, but seems to get pi$$ed off after awhile. Notice switching from Wifi sometimes triggers it too.

It sometimes will show 4g/3g symbol but service never comes back for more than 10 secs (after some fiddling). The symbol will stay, but bars stay white.
To get it working, I have to toggle safe system off then back on (maybe gives phone time to cool?)
Working off 3/29 fresh install, upgrade to newest roms everyday.
Phone has a case...might also contribute to issue.
Fiddling as best as I can, LOVE this rom otherwise but do most texting through google voice (needs internet) so it is somewhat bothersome.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for everyone's help with this ROM, it's the best i've ever seen!

I flashed the cm9/ics zip and it just sits on the boot screen for cm9..... any ideas?

Is this the first time you've flashed it? Try going back and wiping data, cache, and dalvik.

Worked like a charm thanks... but i am having wifi connecting trouble. It cant authorize... grrr

Anyone know any working apps that do what motocast did? Since its not on rom

Well, I know this has been asked before, but I just want a clear answer. I lost root, because of the OTA, even though everything was frozen the update went through lol. I didn't want it yet. So now I need root back to freeze apps and save battery life. I seen some people say to just re-root the way we did first (I guess with the Droid 4 utility?) and I see comments to use the motofail. Which works best and easiest? Also, does previously having safestrap pose any problems? I've seen people pretty much brick their device by screwing with safestrap. I just don't want that to be me :P. Though I'm pretty sure the update removed it.

We have fastboot files now, so you are OK to mess around, but at the same time, it won't be an issue.

I use the Droid4 utility, and it's been very clean for me. I couldn't get Motofail to work, so I would suggest the Droid 4 utility.

As for safestrap, I had this issue, and when I put it back, it installed correctly, and there were no issues whatsoever.

Motofail does work to root DROID 4 after ota I tried it yesterday and I also tried DROID 4 utility to unroot and that worked as well not sure about safe strap I have yet to try it just been running stock rooted.
