[ROM] [SELFKANG ICS AOSP ROM] CM9/ICS for Droid 4 -- [BETA 03/05/2012]

Hey, everyone. I have a quick question that I need help with. I installed the latest build of this ROM last night, everything is working great, except I am unable to connect to my computer via USB now to transfer files. I apologize if this was covered already, but I looked through the pages of the thread and did a Google search and couldn't find anything relating to this build for the Droid 4.

I have tried with debugging on and off, I have tried USB Mass Storage, and I have tried MTP. I have made sure there are no conflicts withing device manager (Windows 7, btw), and tried installing all updates and restarting my computer. I have also tried connecting via USB through the recovery console on the phone and that also failed. If anyone has any suggestions or workarounds, please let me know! Thanks!

It would seem that I am having the same problem.

Ok, I had to fall back to stock... had a data issue after I left work. I don't want to live with the aggrivation of having to fiddle with my phone every time I leave the office. That combined with the usb problem imentioned earlier...

Off topic of most recent posts, in a way, but today after going in and out of a "dataless" zone at my job...my 4g recovered by itself and has been running fine since. I plan on trying to recreate the usb issue on my device tonight.

Further update after another day with the 7th May ROM.

The cellular data problem does not occur consistently (as in, one can't be sure that it will happen every time after leaving wifi, though it happens often enough to be inconvenient), and one needs to clear the Dalvik cache to recover. Is there some sort of log file or something which I could submit somewhere to help the developers?

More alarmingly, even though my battery woes went away after charging to 100% and wiping battery stats, I'm not able to charge from my new Macbook PRO (i was able to charge from it when I was on the stock Gingerbread). The phone charges fine from AC adapter and the car charger. I will see how it goes with my PC tonight and update this thread. What I'm wondering is, can this damage my phone?. More specifically, even though the homescreen says "charging x%", the battery level keeps going down slowly.

I just noticed I can't see my phone as a drive in finder after turning on USB storage. Again, will post how it fares with my windows PC.

Just out of curiosity, does the barcode scanner work for anyone? Doesn't seem to scan for me.. at all. None of the barcode reader apps do.

And, I see a lot of people talking about going back to stock for daily driver use.. is that achieved by just turning safe mode off..?? Sorry, not used to the platform so much yet.

For anyone else having the USB issue, which I am still having, AirDroid seems to be an easy workaround until the problem is solved. I am thinking about updating to the new nightly, but I am new to flashing ROMs and just confirming the process, and know it has been slightly touched on, so thank you for any help. Do I just flash like I did the old one after clearing cache in recovery? And when I do so, does it leave all of my current settings in place? I don't want to have to go through downloading all my apps and adding accounts again. Thanks again!

You should be fine just clearing cache and Dalvik cache when flashing a new build which leaves all your apps and settings intact. The only time you should need to wipe data/factory reset is when flashing a different ROM or if the ROM is updated to a new Android version (like moving from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4).

Just tried the 05/11 builds of AOKP and CM9. Same data issues persist. Sadface.

Same here :( I'm gonna give gummy a try in a few minutes. The sad part is now that the usb doesn't work, I have to go back to stock just to copy the rom (or try to find my microsd adapter) :(

According to Hashcode's Twitter, the nightlies are automatically pulled from the device and posted, and doesn't necessarily mean a fix is included, but the issues are still being worked on.

For people having network connection issues, I have found that if you power off the phone and boot into recovery and clear the Dalvik cache and start back up, it will get a data connection immediately with no issue and hold onto it. A little inconvenient, but a simple workaround until the issue is resolved.

If you are having the USB problem, try AirDroid, works great, you can just transfer files wirelessly to your phone as long as they are both connected to the same wifi network. The only place this hasn't worked for me is at work due to all of the network security layers in place.

I always just download directly to my phone. They download to the Download folder on the SD card and you can navigate to that folder in safestrap and flash directly from there.

I've been trying this without much success. Still getting data issues even immediately after clearing the cache.

AirDroid indeed is a great app.

Clearing the Dalvik cache mostly works for resolving network issues, but while booting after clearing it, the phone takes a long time "upgrading applications" :-/

Nevertheless, for the moment I'm back to GB with Titanium to freeze/uninstall bloat. Hopefuly I'll soon be back into ice-cream land (I also tried gummy for a day. Same network issues, if not worse. Otherwise Hashcode's rom is definitely better of the two IMO).

Can't wait for there to be a stable ICS rom without issues.

I know Hash and the gang are super-geniuses and totally tireless and generous but it kinda seems like by the time they crack it (with probably several tens of millions of dollars less in resources) the super-slow, tired and not generous Moto brass will have finally gotten off their asses and coughed it up.

I hope just so they can claim victory, though, that Hash et al do come out with a completely functional ICS ROM so we can figuratively tell Moto to suck it.

Keep it up, fellas!
