I find "Sent from my Blackberry" or the equivalent as often useful. It let's me know someone is on the road and that helps explain the terseness of the response and possibly the questionable grammar.

However, the one in question here is a blatant ad for a software product and THAT bugs me no end.

I use them, but I also switch between browsing these forums on my phone and one of my many computers, so that signature let's me know for myself if I was mobile on that post.

Yeah, yeah.. I'm on my phone. So?

Anyone else find these signatures (and auto-signatures in general) a bit annoying

how sad is your life that the one thing you feel like making a thread to complain about is something so small and insignificant as a few words that says a post was made from a phone? you seriously have nothing else to worry about in life? maybe go outside...there's no sigs in real life.

Oh no, someone is annoyed by something on the internet. I personally don't care what someone wrote their post on or how "leet" their phone is. If I want to know what awesome setup you have that blows everything else away I'll start a thread about how my rom is the best and everyone elses roms suck.

Guys... What we're really talking about here is not insignificant. It's the subliminal movement of the "acceptable" bar that happens.

For example, in the 70's no one would have wanted to wear anything with the name of the company plastered all over it. Then Nike changed all that and today the result is that a huge percentage of people walk around wearing billboards for a company for free.

Having TapaTalk gain free advertising every time I send a message? Bzzzt. Sorry. No. You want to advertise on MY phone then pay me. I pay TapaTalk and they don't advertise me so why should I advertise them?

If that's a non-issue for you then hey, please stop by my place so I can brainwash you into mowing my lawn and painting my house because it's not that big a deal.

Or you could just fix the stupid settings so it doesn't put in the signature. I guess you make your own clothes and walk to work since you don't advertise anything right?

I did edit the settings. Do you see a signature here? Didn't think so.

At least this version of your message is better than the last one.

As far as my clothes, I buy clothes that don't have advertising all over them. As for my car I SPECIFICALLY tell the dealer that he has a choice. Remove his BS advertising off my car or take $1,000 off the price. His choice. So far not one of the dealers has left their advertising there. Not one. I'll be just fine if one takes me up on it.

I'd remove the other markings but sadly the manufacturers have made that rather difficult and potentially such that it would create a possible problem with the finish, etc.

Again, since you're so into free advertising and such, I've got some nice slogans for your forehead and I'll even pay you to tattoo them there which is more than the other companies have done for you.

+1.............

is it so bad to subtly advertise something you buy, and therefore want or need, and therefore support with your purchase? :icon_eek:

edit: i.e. - i like tapatalk, i use it, i bought it, therefore i have no problem putting it in my signature to further support them so they can continue to make/improve a product i like...

I find it interesting to note that the people who have no issue with this are also the ones that can't be bothered to quote effectively and cleanly.

And yes, the point is that the companies have, as I noted, gotten people to find this sort of thing entirely acceptable to the point of having made much of it into an actual fashion statement or status statement. Again, as someone in marketing the brilliance of it isn't lost on me. That so many people have come to accept it all is just sheer corporate wonder.

They thank you. The rest of us not caring for their advertising at every turn do not.

Again, you PAID TapaTalk. That's the ultimate form of support for them. They pay for advertising elsewhere and I opt to turn it off where I can. I also am a customer of theirs and our relationship with regard to my supporting them begins and ends with my payment with the exception of recommendations to others. Your spamming everyone else just makes you a shill in my view. Sorry.

Do you strip all the Chevy or Nissan logos off or whatever kind of car you drive? Do you not consider driving a companies car advertising??

If you're not going to bother reading things then I can see why this sort of thing doesn't bother you. As I stated, in the very message you so lazily quoted in its entirety unnecessarily, that where I can I remove any form of advertising but that manufacturers have made that a bit more difficult than dealer advertising.

If I had the option I'd even pay extra to have all of it gone. Some things aren't really feasible to expect. A car has an obvious shape and style to it that informs others of its origin. My use of a forum tool doesn't require that so it advertising on its own to everyone is entirely unnecessary and avoidable.

This thread points out that some of us this bugs. That you want to just dismiss the views of others entirely on this speaks volumes about you.
