Simi Automatic Root for Thunderbolt

Go with the TB stay away from Moto and there crap motoblur and locked boot loaders.

Ya i always stayed away from HTC for no real reason just had a weird dislike of them.

But I realized my moto droid had a lot of hardware issues and I really don't want to deal with that anymore

took me a couple times to get this first time my own fault the loading the first file took fooooorrreeeevveerr and pressed enter at some point which screwed up my install process. second time i bypass my usb hub and connected directly and stayed patient. Once i did that worked fine. I was using Win 7 32bit to root my TB, thanks again!

having a problem, did exactly as the better tutorial said and everything looked fine, i was looking forward to downloading das bamf and getting rom manger going, so i got RM and then i was trying to flash clockwork mod and then i noticed that my superuser didnt pop up to grant permissions for the flash, i then downloaded root checker and it claims now that im not rooted so i have no idea what i did wrong, after trying the fixing permissions on rom manager to get superuser to pop and it didnt work, i decided to power off and go into the bootloader and retry flashing the update, did that and then turned on the device and now i have NO superuser, should i try the entire frickiing process again?

Fixed the superuser permission. I forgot I didn't have unknown sources checked in applications. Checked it off, rebooted, double checked it was still checked after reboot, and all was good.

Protocol failure???

Having the same porblem as Mokitaco during the first attempt to "Copying Big File". I made it through the first reboot initially but it didn't take (can't even remember what happened though). Now I get the following:

protocol failure
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *

I am stuck at the reboot screen and forced to recover or restore original. I reloaded ADB, Google Drivers, Unzipped the Thunderboltpc file again. Debugging was on.

FRy... you were able to fix the issue over Skype. Can you please pass on the method you used to get through this same problem? I have been at this literally ALL day.

Also if anyone needs help rooting there phone on Mac OSX or Windows using my program I'm always ready to help users. That is when I'm awake :-)

Downloads can always be found at

I actually did mine on a MAC. I followed your YouTube video where you did it on a MAC and rooted my bolt while watching the video. Worked great
