So I rooted.......... Now what?

I finally decided to take the plunge and root my RAZR. I have already Downloaded SQLite and have enabled wireless hotspot. What else can I do? What are the neato things that rooting will allow me?

Freeze bloatware (kindle, video surf, vzw navigation, etc.), make backups with CWR, backup your apps and settings with titanium backup so you don't have to set them all back up after a rom flash etc, flash roms (not yet available but coming soon) and hopefully under/overclock (again not yet available) just for starters.

Doesn't the locked bootloader prevent you from doing all that?

Jtsativa420 how did you make your backups? I got CWR but I did not see a backup for the Droid razor.

Boot into recovery with razr bootstrapper. Then go to backup restore and select back up. It will back up to your sdcard-ext under clockworkmod.

So the main reason I rooted my Razr was to OC it and from what I'm gathering from your post, I can't oc yet? :blink:

No....hopefully to tether for free, you can freeze apps, take screenshots, take screencasts, OC (should be soon as we can OC the Bionic now), backup and restore apps, flash ROM's....should I keep going?

Do you have the bionic? I sold mine for the razr.

I hear it is still experimental. Did someone unlock it or is it a workaround?

I have had about 4 og droids, 5 d2s, a charge 4g, bionic, and am now very satisfied with the Razr. When I had the first few droids and Droid 2's I followed the directions to the t on installing custom ROMs and always had issues...hence so many devices. I think I may just wait until I can over clock and leave the rest semi-stock. May give the hotspot work around though, would be useful on family trips. Thanks for the info! If I do the tether work around, will the usage appear on my bill? I've also read that certain websites don't display after the work around, is this normal or did the people just not read the destructions right?

Yes it will show up, but not in a bad way, as if you were using net flix etc. And there are a few sites that don't fully function. All in all it works well though.

That's it? LOL.....let's see....2 OG Droid's, I think 7 D2's, a D2G, Dx, 5 X2's, 4 D3's, 5 Bionic's and a Razr in a pear tree.

I have pretty much given up on ROM's. I still flash em....cause I am an addict, but find myself pretty quickly after that flashing back to stock. Everything works on stock....I always have some stupid issue on a ROM. Now I am just waiting for ICS.....

Wait, make that 3 Charges...and these have been over the course of a year. If I could afford it, I'd have more. Just did the Wi-Fi tether hack and so far, no issues.

No, took the bionic back a few days after the 14day trial BC the screen triggered a wicked migraine told the rep it was BC of LCD instead of superamoled. Mgr approved it.
