total newb here, just rooted my razr ( how do you really know it worked?) tried to get the wifi tethering taking the snapshot of the code for android mkt. It comes up as the app wireless tether for root users but when I tap the app to install it theres nothing there, says "no results found"...what am I doing wrong?
thanks, I got it working. Used a different method I found by searching the forums . Found a video and followed the instructions using sqlite, changed a couple setting and now wifi hotspot works like a charm. Now that I am rooted can someone reccommend some basic things I can do? I would like to get rid of some of the things verizon puts in like madden , nfl ect but have no clue how to do that. Is there anywhere I can go to see what all is possible?

bloat freezer will freeze those unwanted apps, if you want a free app and don't care about backups and extra features. If you want more there is rom toolbox and titanium backup up (tbu). Both are paid apps.
sqlite is great but doesn't allow access to every web site has a few kinks. there is a tethering app that works better and is free.

Any reason why I could not use the newer wifi_tether_v3_1-beta9.apk instead of the 3.17?

No reason at all. The new release most likely just has bug fixes and or compatibility worth more models.
