Something for those thinking about the DROID to chew on...

I've said it many time, you are buying a computer that happens to also make phone calls, take that approach and you will do well with your Droid!

I love how the news sites talk about the low quality of the apps available compared to number. Well, yes, there will be bad apps out there, but many more good ones, and as the number increases, even better. Been that way with PC freeware, and now Android.

Compare that to Apple's stranglehold on their app market ... which would you rather have?

One basic way to fight bad apps is simply to make your comments and rate it on the market! Take that time and we the EU's out there can whittle the bad dev's outta there.

To expand on the OP's original point, anyone coming from an iPhone or even an iPod Touch will have a much easier adjustment period. The Droid does things that those devices don't (background tasks, Navigation, Google Voice) but the concept is the same.

The biggest change is the Google cloud mentality. Those used to desktop sync will need to use alternative methods to get the same result, but those that have been on Gmail, Google Contacts and Google Calendar from day one of each service will have no issues at all past the virtual keyboard.
