Sourcery 2.2 - Full Version

RZR will work but you have to find the update.zip

I am using RZR and yes i do. Is that my problem? and yes I do.

I use RZR (clockwork is not working for me with multiple partitions)
Changing themes, it goes to terminal, then goes to 100% , not sure why but mine will show 100% and still download a little more,,
on reboot with RZR it goes to the bootloader menu,
choose install,
then if you use the volume up it will go past the top file and start back at the bottom and latest UPDATE.ZIP should be what it goes to first, Again if you have multiple update.zip's the latest one is the one you need (I would remove, move, or rename all update.zips prior to doing any changes to make things easier)
install the update.ZIP and your theme should be changed, many of the addons, bootanimations, themes, etc work this way.

Its not automatic like clockwork mod but if you like RZR it will work. RZR has its benifits~

Putting my two cents in, because I drank alot of coffee and I feel like it. HA

If you are going to go back to froyo, THIS is the rom to use. once you have everything the way you like it, make a backup so you have a froyo back up.

a couple of things....

1. If you want to use the theme chooser, kernel chooser, ect. make sure you are on CWM recovery 2.5.0.1 BECAUSE, if you are using a different recovery, or using a more up to date CWM it will not work. Wasnt made for anything else.

2. if you are having graphic issues with like the call log or contacts when your scrolling or things are over laping, remove the backround image. this will fix that problem.

3. if your galaxy s power widget is not staying on after a reboot, go in and change the indicator color. then it will. maybe a nice blue to match everything.

4. if you have trouble with CWM 2.5.0.1, like me, use the most up to date CWM and flash themes and kernels manually.

5. dont use TB to restore data. that app is good for one thing, and thats removing system apps.

6. THAT IS ALL

FYI: After using this ROM exclusively for over a month, I can say that I've had NO issues using TiBu to restore apps (only... not apps+data). Also, if the app was backed up from Sourcery 2.2, then I've never had an issue restoring apps+data back.

I noticed that Sourcery does have a built-in backup and restore function... but I've never used it.

TiBu is also good for moving apps to the SD card that won't move otherwise.

Since there have been NUMEROUS updates to TiBu in just the past month alone, I can't help but wonder if these fears are based on past experience and are baseless with the current version?

+1

I've been using TiBu with this rom and never had any problems. I even restored the email app for my business email and had no issues. I even used it on my wifes phone when flashing this rom and had no problems.

Hi Fellow Sorcerers... if anyone is interested in an invite to Google+ send me a pm with your gmail address and i'll send you one.

I am running CYAN and very displeased it worked great for a week then FC's and such a lag and I didn't install any new apps. I use RZR recovery but read this won't work with that recovery. I want to wipe it all and install the apps that I installed manually. I am not a fan of CWR. Will RZR be fine. Thanks

In case any of the magicians here have any ideas...

A friend just pointed this out to me:
Does Google's new Android Market website ignore custom ROMs? -- Engadget

I booted back into my vanilla rooted FRG83G ROM and Presto!! The Google+ app magickly appeared in the market! Booting back into Sourcery (also Android 2.2.2 and the same version of the Market app) and it isn't found!! Verrrry interesting...

I too use RZR to flash this rom (many times). You should be good

Very interesting, indeed. It may explain why about 1/3 of the apps I normally use either wouldn't download, or were "gone" altogether. Fortunately, I found replacements or a workaround for most of them, so not too big a deal. Just wish I'd learned the little "force install" trick I found out about BEFORE I changed things around...

...then again, I think I have a recovery of a fresh Sourcery install. Hmmmm.....

Yeah, I'd resorted to downloading such apps from my stock FroYo ROM, backing up the installed app with TiBu, then booting into Sourcery and restoring the app from TiBu. Major PITA, but it works.

That is no good if you are unable to install certian apps from Sourcery.

It's not Sourcery itself that hides the apps, but the market. Even then, there are several workarounds. Some have used Titanium Backup with varying degrees of success. Others say that there are apps that trick the store into thinking you have a different phone, so it gives you a different lineup. For me, I find if I install the app I want in a stock root recovery, then flash Sourcery over that, Sourcery will show that I had the program at one time. Then all I do is go into the Market app, and download everything all over again. If something won't download or comes up "The requested item can't be found", I go back to the list where it shows everything I've downloaded, long-press the troublesome app, and select "Download" from the list that pops up. Since finding this little trick, I've had zero programs not install. The only downfall is it only works for apps you once had :-/
