Speaker Volume is a Software Issue

I just tested the Alarm Volume and it was more than adequate.

Honestly the only thing I don't like so far is the vibration is very weak.

I think I remember reading that might be addressed in 4.1. Please don't ask where, I've read too much in the last month.

Volume is way low. I played the identical song on my OG and the Gnex and the OG blows it away. And the vibrations is weak.

Missed a few calls today because I couldn't hear or feel the thing (or hear it) in my pocket. I drive and F150 and its not that much road noise but I guess i took these things for granted with the OG.

Wondering about a RAZR??

Skip the Razr and go buy a Lexus. That will be quiet enough inside to notice the phone! ;)

Razr from the brief time i tested it (same podcast as the Epic Touch, Rezound, and GNex) - it seemed to have decent / normal volume, near the ET . The Rezound's speaker is pretty loud - the only newer phone with a louder speaker that I've noticed (I'd be OK though with the Epic Touch, Bionic which are Ok and about the same as the Razr).

The original Droid - no newer phone will touch that in volume (I'm still using mine waiting to decide on a new VZW phone).

I hate to base a phone choice on a speaker but the GNex' speaker is so low that the speaker and camera have kept me from buying it (which is tough to deal with as i have been waiting to upgrade forever - 1st the Thunderbird, basically an Evo almost a year later with LTE, Charge - just lame, Bionic - bust that I did try for a week, the GNex - camera and super low speaker main issues.... , I'd have bought a Galaxy II variant in a heartbeat if VZW would have offered! Have an Epic Touch from a Sprint trial - love the phone, can see easily using it for 2 years, even if it didn't get ICS which it will - great camera, zero lag, super nice display <lower rez than brand new phones but fine for me>, speaker is decent - can listen to Podcasts, use GTalk video chat and hear the other side fine etc........)

Looks like either the Rezound & if somehow the camera and speaker are improved via a software update on the GNex return the Rezound for the GNex in mid Jan when the Holiday return period ends or keep using the Rezound until something better arrives, give the Rezound then to my wife, I get whatever VZW releases this Spring (let's hope for 2012 that VZW gets some good devices - 2011 was really weak!).

Tempted to activate the Epic Touches that we have - but the under 100 kbps negate the Epic Touch's awesomeness when you can't use it outside of the house off of Wi-Fi.

First release. It could have much worse problems then volume. I am sure it will be fixed in the future or some smart dev will fix it.

I'll guarantee you that the GN'x developers played with lowering the volume on the pone as a way to increase the battery life. With all this fuss I'm sure the next update will take care of that.

By the way Verizon has their upgraded battery on sale for just $24.99, just picked one up on-line.

Volume+ is a good ap to get you by on the volume issue.
