Squidly 2.3.20.2 Rom

No stranger to romming and themeing, tried out the new squidly, and battery went from seventy to ten percent in about an hour and a half? Any solutions... thanks for the help, love the look and feel except for the whole bat. Drain thing

i've been having crazy battery drains since going to .2, but they are intermittent (every few days).
today, I pulled off an overnight charge (100%) and was down to 20% in 6 hours with no use and the screen off.
when these cases happen, i usually have a very high battery temperature as well (115+F).

If your battery is draining that quick I'd check several things, first that your display isn't on full brightness, second that your sync icon is gone. Also I'd give it a full charge, reboot clear battery stat and dump davlik, run battery saver script in gscripts. Also, if you're not in a know wifi area turn off wifi.

I've done all this except battery saver script - does that underclock my phone?

After 11 hours and 16 mins I'm at 40%.

Medium usage, meaning some texting and emailing. My sync is off but I use full brightness. I also used the navigation for about a total of 40 mins.

Battery usage looks like:
-Display 47%
-Maps 19%
-Phone Idle 8%
-Cell Standby 7%
-Voice Calls 6%
-Android System 5%
-Handcent SMS 3%

I've also experienced days like this with similar usage and similar battery life.

I'm currently setting everything that auto updates every few hours to manually check and now using a custom battery saver that turns off data during peak hours instead of "always on" which should have a good effect on my battery life.

These phones are in pretty weird.

I would try a battery stat wipe everything I do is to maximize battery life going from nandroids and things mess the data up.

Event121, I'd give the underclock script a go. I'm not sure if it survives reboot so it might not even be having an effect on me. I restarted my phone this morning and here are my current stats:

Battery is at 60% after 10h 3m 22s:
Display 64%
Phone idle 10%
Cell standby 9%
Android System 4%
Maps 3%
DroidForums 2%
TweetDeck 2%
Voice calls 2%

i started .2 out by turning off backing up data and settings for google, unchecking google restore (so I wouldn't get my apps back automatically except purchased ones), a factory reset in rom, factory reset in clockworkmod, wipe cache in clockworkmod, wipe dalvik, .sbf, wipe battery stats (when charged at 100%), factory reset in clockworkmod, wipe cache in clockworkmod, boot into stock, skip google login, factory reset, boot into recovery (power+x, then search button), wipe data, wipe cache, reboot, skip google login, install latest z4 to root, install bootstrap, boot into clockworkmod, factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, wipe battery stats, install .zip for 2.3.20.2 (no blur), install fix (this was before you had the latest .2 file up and just the fix for the transitions), and then i set everything back up like i normally do. so maybe i went a little ocd on resets to avoid headaches - i really just wanted to see my wallpaper NOT survive a .sbf. but that's where i'm at. i really don't think it's your rom, but rather a couple of apps/processes that aren't closing correctly (gps fix for weather and a news reader are top on my investigation list).

I use even less for voice calls :p but I was wondering if the batt save script was simply just underclocking thus not surviving a reboot.

Squids scripts cancel any clocking on reboot so the bootloader wont throw you for a loop. You have to manually restart and clocking you do on boot up

:)

Has anyone else experienced their gps constantly running? I have weatherbug running with "follow me" updates checked and the weatherbug locator installed as well, but updates every 4 hours. i have wireless networks, satellites, and assisted gps on, beautiful widgets checking weather every 4 hours with gps as my location.. only 4 widgets that update (beautiful widget home, weatherbug, facebook, and twitter), adw ex. /shrug it's been random

There is one file out of system/ framework that was removed but it has to do with city id and should have no effect on battery performance but I will post an update.zip for easy install if you want to try that,if there is pieces of that app in your system that could be a problem maybe?

The one with the world's smallest violin and where Squidward ran the restaurant to impress Squidly. That's the one in particular that I want...whats it called?

Not a big deal but in the stock calendar(not blur), the top is cut off. If I install blur, then it looks right but I can't add, edit, look at events. It just reverts me to the last screen. If I install a theme, then the calendar looks correct.

Weird to make blur calendar work install BlurSNMessagingEngine.apk to system/app from terminal type su enter sys -rw enter cp /sdcard/stock/BlurSNMessagingEngine.apk /system/app enter sys -ro enter sync.

Can't beat this:

I have the extended battery and this rom is giving me the best battery life I've ever seen.

I leave sync off, but I keep my screen on full brightness. I text a lot and manually update TweetDeck and my gmail often.

Also use navigation a bit.

Thanks for the blur cal instructions...but I'm trying to stay mostly blurless. Like I said, its no big deal to me...just reporting a slight bug.

On a side note Squid, I think its pretty great you have a rom that doesn't require a data wipe(most of the time). For someone like me who did many apps with custom settings, it means a lot. Do you think this could be done for other phones other than verizon motorola?

Nice job on the Rom Squid! I had 2.3.2 installed on my phone ever since the black glass theme went dead and Verizon came out with the OTA update. I backed up my apps (Titanium Backup) and took a full image of the phone before putting the new rom in over top. 20 minutes including back up and install time and no issues! Nicely done! Didn't have to restore a thing!

well i have never tried squidly roms but i am downloading them now...both...lol
if i can just decide which i want to try...lol

what impresses me so much is it looks like squidly is in here alot and answering questions.......i like that

i agree. he doesnt give you a rom and say figure it out ur self. i think this is the most well explained rom out there~

I would go with 2.2.3.2 just because alot of the little things were fixed
