Read either his link or check out my post. Either way, I recommend reading as much as you can in the Droid 2 Hacks forum until you feel that you have a grasp on what you are doing, that is what I did. Also check out the IRC channels, they have great live assistance from experienced Rooted droid users that have flashed many a rom in their time. Also...make sure to read Koushi's web page in full, there are a couple caveats that some folks have a hard time with, and Koushi does a pretty good job of explaining it.
To sum things up: [read stuff], [google confusing stuff], [IRC=WIN], [Backup stuff], [follow a known working procedure on your EXACT version of droid]
well wut im trying to do is reboot into recovery and it wont allow me and i cant use terminal emulator cause it denies every command ill eventually figure it out ill prolly just end up factoring it and then start all over
you are not root. reroot...then whatever commands that you dont need to issue will go through. Just out of curiousity...what is your Build number? this info is located in Settings > About Phone.
If so, you are def, not rooted...check to make absolutely sure by opening your superuser app, if it doesn't let you open it...you are 100% for sure not rooted.
I'm pretty sure there is no UID of 0.5 or a command such as chmod(777/2). Jokes aside, you are not root. You lose root privileges upon applying the 2.3.20 .sbf because it writes a whole bunch of files that have differing permissions to parts of your system ROM. I said it before, and I'll say it again...you are not root. I would recommend unrooting and rerooting again including a full install of busybox (this contains the su command) you will need the su command to reboot into koushi's bootstrapper. Also, the information is out there...check out my earlier posts and all of the high ranking posts in the Droid 2 hacks in another 20 tabs while you troll this one.
there is an important link to the easy 1 click root on my prior post. Btw, this root method works on all [operating] systems. From what the darkonion says at least, I have only used it on linux. But someone once told me that real men use windows.
I am hopping that somebody has an answer for this. After the install, following the directions, I tried to set-up my e-mail for exchange. I entered the e-mail address and password then clicked the manual button and entered in all the account information. I then got to the screen where it asks you to enter a name for the account, did that and then pressed done. It sat there for a few seconds and the when back to the initial screen to enter e-mail and password. No account gets set-up and I tried this 5 time to make sure I was entering the information correctly.
