Stuck on 1X? How to get 3G back

My wife's fascinate has 3g why is it only the TBolt?

"ThuNd3rB0lT"

TB uses a different kind of 3G. Called eHPRD iirc.

Sent from my brain using my fingers.

I can't verify this will work because I usually can only get 1x in my office anyway, but if you want to change to the standard network until the outage is over,
dial ##778# then hit the call button. Wait for a menu to appear, and select Edit. enter 000000 for the password.

Go to Modem Settings in the following menu.

Under the Rev. A setting it will say eHRPD. Select that item, and from the following menu, select Enable.

Hit the Menu button, and select "Commit Modifications"

You will get a warning that the phone will reboot, and then it will reboot.

When it comes up, you will be on the standard 3G network. When 4G comes back up, it will still work, but simultaneous voice and data won't. There is some indication that this also makes the aGPS slightly more effective in time to first fix, but not as fast as other Verizon phones, so it isn't the whole picture...

Follow the same instructions to switch back, changing Rev. A Enable to eHRPD.

Yah, all morning on my way to work (2 hour drive) I was thinking about how Verizon finally moved against us rooters by forcing us to 1x until we reverted back to stock with bloatware. I was thinking about what I'd do after I paid the ETF. lolol.

Glad that isn't the case :)

back to the days of 3G for now :reddroid: until I learn that 4G reappears
Dial: ##778#
password: 000000
Select: Rev A
Press Menu
Select: Commit Modifications

As most are aware both the LTE network and eHPRD are down (a special version of 3G for the Thunderbolt only). To get 3G data back you just need to change your settings back to the normal 3G network. Here are the steps:

Dial ##778# and hit send
A pop-up window named EPST will show up giving you 2 choices: View Mode and Edit Mode. Pick: Edit Mode.
Enter the Password: 000000
Go down to Modem Settings and pick “Rev A“
You’ll want to choose enable and click OK, hit the menu button and then press “Commit Modifications.”
Restart your phone and you should see 3G is working

Optional- to get it to stop looking for LTE, dial *#*#4636#*#* then set to CDMA auto (PRL)

I hope this helps anyone that is left in the dark by this outage.

Just a note: this is only working to get 3G back in some areas. Doesn't work in Washington DC, does work in Colorado. I believe in areas where it doesn't work, other phones that don't use the eHRPD network may also be without 3G.
