Stuck on 1X? How to get 3G back

I've noticed that even after the force RevA change I'll occasionally drop a network connection entirely. 3G does come back but it's been in and out since the RevA change. I think I'm going to switch back to stock mode and just wait it out. This is a pretty big deal so I'd think big red would have this as a top priority fix.

Thank God everyone's coverage is messed up...I was scared I was gonna have to return my phone I didn't wanna do that.

About everywhere NY 4G is out and 3G is on and off

As most are aware both the LTE network and eHPRD are down (a special version of 3G for the Thunderbolt only). To get 3G data back you just need to change your settings back to the normal 3G network. Here are the steps:

Dial ##778# and hit send
A pop-up window named EPST will show up giving you 2 choices: View Mode and Edit Mode. Pick: Edit Mode.
Enter the Password: 000000
Go down to Modem Settings and pick “Rev A“
You’ll want to choose enable and click OK, hit the menu button and then press “Commit Modifications.”
Restart your phone and you should see 3G is working

Optional- to get it to stop looking for LTE, dial *#*#4636#*#* then set to CDMA auto (PRL)

I hope this helps anyone that is left in the dark by this outage.

Just a note: this is only working to get 3G back in some areas. Doesn't work in Washington DC, does work in Colorado. I believe in areas where it doesn't work, other phones that don't use the eHRPD network may also be without 3G.

This is correct... 3G is down in Raleigh as well

Keep in mind, if you have LTE On/Off downloaded from the market, run it and choose CDMA auto (PRL), as it does the same thing as above. I have had it on exclusively since 4G isn't in our area, yet, and I'm not getting 3G either.

I don't believe that does the same thing, b/c it doesn't switch it off of eHRPD.

Why do you say that other phones maybe without 3G? I havn't heard this anywhere but wouldn't doubt that its occuring.

When 4G is back, do we have to make the change back to get it or will it just happen? I know I wouldn't be able to talk and data at the same time until I make the change back but will the 4g just appear back?

Then used my lteon/off app to switch to cdma auto.

Same, I've noticed (especially on my way into work) - there was no data coverage for awhile. This seems to be pretty bad.

dial *#*#4636#*#* then set to CDMA + LTE/EvDo to check if 4G is back or when it comes back this is the setting also change back to thunderbolt 3G settings

This is pissing me off. Being in sales and out in the field, company email is a lifeline. I can't do **** without it.

Thought it was just mine, hopefully it'll get resolved pretty quick we need to flood Verizon with phone calls.

It is actually any that have been rebooted. The phone password cannot be authenticated when logging back into the network. They are working on it.......

I did use the ##778# method and I am back on 3G!

don't you also have to do the ##778# to switch it back to eHRPD?

followed the intructions thanks again, seem to be still on the 1x instead of 3g, anyone else having troubles?

talked to verizon wireless, of course they had no time frame and could not tell me anything other then the network was down and they were trying to repair it.

Yes correct, eHRPD or thunderbolt 3G

My corporate rep told us today that the outage was due to storm damage :icon_eek:. Must have been one heck of a storm! :icon_ banana:
