Switching calls

Ok, this is the first time I've ever been a little confused on the whole "switching calls" process. When you're on the line and someone else calls you and you pick up, how do you disconnect the other line? Do you have to hit "switch calls" to get back to the original call and then hang up?

Seems like when I hung up this second call, both calls finally terminated.. No biggie, just curious. Thanks for any response.

All you can do is switch calls. When one caller hangs up, it disconnects that line.

That's what I thought too, but the original call says I've been on for much longer than I know I was on for. I got the second call about 10 minutes after the call and stayed on the second line for about 12 minutes, and the original call says I've been on the call for 22 minutes, lol. Very weird.
