Swype beta 5612 expired?

Having been using Swype for months now without issues, why is the BETA so long?? I am willing to shell out soem $$ for this app, but this is ridiculous. I will probably just try a competitor.

EDIT: Removing reference to where I found a working version per ToS.
It gave me an error once about the screen resolution on my Droid but is working beautifully :)

WTF! I'm pissed now, the thing is working fine, let me in on the beta, why would someone have ever posted that if it was just going to end? That's horrible.

Corinacakes,
I received my update email from swype to install their latest version. Am I allowed to share that link or should people get the link the legit way from swype? Trying to be kosher about this.

I signed up for the previous beta, but it had already closed, so I was on the waiting list for when it reopened. Still no word. I REALLY want it back

Me too. I'm tired of screwing with the Swype developers. Let them sit on their goldmine--I'm switching to ShapeWriter.

Shapewriter blows, I'm trying it now. Why wont the makers of Swype get off their butts and just release it already?

In the first place, Swype doesn't owe you an app.

In the second place, the folks at Swype have not yet decided (apparently) whether to release the application to end-users in the Android ecosystem. Their current business model involves licensing the app to phone manufacturers (e.g. Samsung) and carriers (e.g. T-Mobile) for inclusion on particular phone models. This is a potentially more profitable strategy, avoids the need for a large support staff at Swype for end-users, and assures that the keyboard is integrated into a device's operating system rather than existing as a foreign application.

The beta program is designed to (a) assess the performance of Swype on various Android devices and (b) inform their corporate marketing strategy.

Swype has been consistent and upfront about all of this since the beginning. Each version of the app, whether "leaked" or "beta released" has had a timer built in to prevent its operation after a set period.
