Swype on Moto Droid [Video]

I am amazed at how accurate this app is. I would definitely switch to this app if I could set it to be the default for horizontal mode only. I still prefer the regular Android keyboard in landscape mode.

I'm guessing you mean default for "vertical mode" aka portrait. I definitely agree. Once they implement this option, I'll definitely use it as it is awesome in portrait mode.

wow this is incredible!!!!!!!!! takes some getting used to but i already see how fast it can be :)

i switched back to the regular keyboard and found myself swyping! omg i couldn't do the other one anymore lol

My only concern is the standard warning when I was switching to Swype mode that it can record keystrokes and if you're silly enough to use your Droid to enter credit cards, or other personal information, that they could get this information. Is Swype one of those companies collecting this data?

No ... any app that interfaces with keyboard pops up that warning on the droid ... meaning that you are typing (doing keystrokes) with that app.

So, if the app is NOT a keyboard, then you should worry. If it is designed to type things then you expect that warning to pop up.

I doubt it. I trust Swype because both of the creators are very reputable. One of them is the co-inventor of t9 text input.
Oh I'm using Swype, and know that's a standard warning message, but I was just curious if anyone knows for sure about Swype and security. Like I also said, I won't be entering any information like SSN or CC numbers from my Droid anyway. But, this is a totally awesome concept for text messaging in portrait mode.:icon_ banana:

When you install Swype, it tells you all the permissions that it requires. IIRC, it doesn't require network access, so even if it did log everything you ever typed, there's no way for it to send that data back to Swype's server. I don't have any qualms about using it.

If you have Swype as the default, you can tap your contact and then simply long press on the text box where you want to "type" and a window pops up so you can choose input method. You can use Swype or Android. Too easy.

i broke my wrist the other day and now have a cast on. swype has made text alot easier for me after i got used to it.

does this app do curse words. ive typed a few but doesn't recognized them
Enter the word you want it to learn using the tap method followed by a space and it will add the word to its dictionary. The next time you want that word, you can use the swype method to enter it.

This might be the coolest application I have on my phone, and will only get better in time.

EDIT: Although I'd be cool if i could swipe down to the space bar instead of lifting up my finger at all.

You can. To end a sentence and start the next one after your last word, swype from the period to the space. In most cases in the middle of a sentence, you do not need to enter a space if you have "Auto-spacing" checked in Swype Options. It will enter a space between words.
