system update fail on OTA 2.2 update

I did a factory reset and re-formatted my sd card. None of it worked. I am convinced that some minor alteration or change I made and don't remember is causing the issue.

I will flash my phone when I got home tonight and update everyone on it. My phone feels so crappy right now but thank god the app store keeps an inventory of everything I downloaded and purchased.

flashing sbf from 2.2 back to 2.1

okay earlier today i flashed an sbf to get back to 2.1 and upgrade ota everything went fine but i didnt like it near as much as the leak with fly x so i tried to restore but of course i couldnt because i wasnt rooted anymore. i tried the droid 2 root method and it said it took and root explorer would work but couldnt get bootstrap to work so i decided to just flash the sbf and get back to 2.1 and then start over but now the sbf WILL NOT WORK!!!! I have tried everything that i know to do and can not make it work. im on windows vista 32bit and i installed the rsd lite patch and a brand new sbf file. i have done sbf pleanty of times before without a problem but not this time... after the sbf finishes it says pass and my phone does nothing it brings me back to the bootloader menu and says service req'd battery ok ok to program connect usb data cablebut no matter how many times i try it will not work

When you flashed originally how did it work? I cant enter into bootloader mode unless I let my computer (Windows 7 32 bit) recognize the phone with rsd lite. When I click start it puts my phone into bootloader mode and then attempts to flash but it fails.

The error i get is "Failed flashing process. Failed flashing process. Unable to retrieve interface handle. (0x7027)"

i am trying again right this second but i get the same error i believe... the first time i flashed it worked great. no error but that was from the leaked 2.2, i dont know if the ota had anything to do with it but thats the only thing i can think of that it can be... my phone wont boot up at all if i hit the power button all it does is go into bootloader but its not the same bootloader as normal, it says service required which i have never seen.... im stuck with a paper weight right now lol

the error i get is failed flashing process. failed flashing process. phone [0000]: phone is not compatible with multi-interface super-file. (0x703B) phone connected

If u update to 2.2 via OTA then the old sbf will brick your phone. The sbf is junk to you after the ota update. Bridman, rootzwiki, and many others have been saying all day not to use the sbf after u do the OTA 2.2 update. Hopefully somewhere or someone will b able to fix this problem. Just might have to wait til the new sbf is released.

I would suggest following @P3droid, @_mrbirdman_, and @rootzwiki on twitter. They provide some great intel in the android community. Hopefully they can provide a fix for this soon. Sorry to hear about your problems. Hope everything works out.

I rooted my DX and I was having the same issue "update failed". I went into my apps and remembered I disabled some of them by changing .apk to .bak so I renamed the files back to .apk and then retried the OTA update and it installed just fine. Of course I no longer have root on the new 2.2 update but I can fix that. If anybody is having issues getting the update its probably not the root that's causing it because I updated while rooted. I did not install any 2.2 beta's so I cant help ya there but if you were like me and disabled the bloatware by renaming the .apk then go undo those changes and try again.

When you follow the directions to flash online, the drivers they tell you to use are outdated, or the link itself is outdated. I found the S Flash driver I was missing:
USB and PC Charging Drivers - Motorola, Inc. USA

Click on Motorola 4.7.1 and unzip. I did this WHILE I was connected in bootloader mode, fixed everything.

I'm trying the above now. If it doesn't work, any suggestions?

Our problems sounded similar enough that I think that would work. My issue was I could not get the phone in bootloader to be recognized, so when I connected it in bootloader I discovered that I did not have the S Flash OMAP driver installed. Thats when I found the updated driver page and installed that driver. So simply, my issue was I did not have a driver installed and did not realize it.

I am pretty sure this might be a dumb question but, how do I tell if my phone is rooted? It was at one time , but I had starting having problems and then I had to do a factory reset . SO I think I lost the root. Can someone tell me what to look for to see if its rooted. I tried the update , and it downloaded but installation failed
