T-Mobile Press Event Blows Minds: Amazing Plans, New Phones, LTE & More Full Details

Even in LTE isn't available everywhere, I've been rather happy with ATT's HSPA+ speeds. I heard that T-Mobiles was very comparable in speeds and if so, I wouldn't miss LTE. I average 10-12 Mbps on HSPA+ on ATT. I know quite a few people with TMobile and their cell reception is just fine where I live.

I'm certainly IN. It feels very liberating to kick VZW to the curb after enduring my last contract EVER. Yes - I will miss the grandfathered, unlimited data, but it just doesn't make financial sense to stay with them anymore. Nexus 4 coming tomorrow, GS3 on Ebay, T-Mobile micro sim in hand. If they end up sucking all it takes is swapping a sim to try the next one...

*Sell your unlimited account on ebay, dont just walk away! I just got $200 for my line!

I'm pretty tempted to dump VZW. T-Mobile and Ting (MVNO on Sprint) both have my attention. I'm getting tired of the price gouging I'm getting from VZW and the bait and switch they did to me last year along with previous grievances. When my wife's contract is up, I'm seriously considering switching. As far as I'm concerned, VZW has voided the contract on my line due to what they did; if I can't win that, I'd be willing to eat the ETF just to get out that bad taste in my mouth.

VZW better get their s*** together or cut my account of 9 years a serious deal to stay. I doubt they'll consider this a threat unless people leave in droves as contracts end, but hopefully they'll see it and try and stay competitive.

Hmmm..man..I've been playing switch the carrier a lot in the last few months....
Vzw's service at my house sucks.T-Mobile doesn't...just no 4g yet... and at&t is pretty crappy too...

If you put a trouble ticket in and request a free network extender. If the trouble ticket shows an issue Verizon will send you for free. I've been their and I've done it. I got mine for free

This just seems like a different pricing structure but isn't really any cheaper then previous plans! The monthly 4g plans are basically the same!

Sent from my Galaxy S3

This is all well and dandy if T-Mobile actually provides quality service in your area.

In Maine, specifically in central Maine, T-Mobile is the joke of all jokes. Their coverage areas are serviceable at best, there is no 4G in sight, and most of my friends who have (or have had in the past) have reported rarely even having 3G connectivity.

One of my closest friends is on T-Mobile and has had genuinely one of the worst experiences I've ever seen a cell phone consumer have. She can hardly make calls, can hardly text, when she can text, her messages send minutes after they're typed and arrive sometimes hours late. T-Mobile says "it's the phone" and keeps replacing it with refurbs. She's had seven Samsung Galaxy SII's in a little over a year, and has also tried two or three other phones to test their "it's the phone" theory. It's not the phone. It's them. Worst of all: they have a massive call center right here in town.

I recommend you guys get a cheap unlocked device (ie nexus 4) and go to t-mobile and pay 10 bucks for a sim to make sure you will have good coverage in the areas you will be. THe big issue for me about t-mobile is they just do not have enough coverage. If they had the coverage penetration as verizon or att then this would not be a discussion as there would be lines outside t-mobile right now.

Been there, done that...been battling with that since last May....long long long story lol.

Unless your getting the Nexus 4 and paying upfront, this is the same thing Sprint has and T-Mobile had before. If you upgrade and push off the costs, you'll have to pay your $200 and pay the rest of the phone off $20/month for 20 months. $70 + $20 = $90. Am I missing anything?

Your right npro1464!!!! This just seems like a bait a switch tactic to me! There is no contract but you pay full retail for the phone and I really dont see any mind blowing savings here. How is this different from there monthly 4g plan? It looks like all they really did is take away the option for a subsidized phone !!!!

The only real upside maybe? Tell me if I am reading it right, you get the subsidized price ($20x20months=$200) without a contract. Am I missing something? would this not mean you could get the subsidized price for one month and then move the phone to another WISP?

I'm guessing T-Mobile will force you to pay the remainder of the phone if you decide to leave... sort of like an ETF :icon_wink:.

The best route to go is wait for the Nexus 5 (that has LTE), pay the $350 and go with the $70/month plan. I'll say one thing, for pre-paid plans, nothing beats that. Or buy a 3 month old used GSIII for $250.
