Team Black Hat present Droid X 2.2.1

The definitely isn't as clean of a release that TBH is known for (hey, we're all human after all ^_^). After poking through the zip, I found that Superuser and 'su' are not found where they belong, yet SuperOneClick seems to think its still rooted and refuse to work. I'm sure a manual root process would have more success, but I'm too lazy.

Another thing is media doesn't work. MP3s and MP4 video won't play at all. Some are saying that switching the StageFright settings in the build.prop to "true" fixes this, but there are still issues with YouTube and the camera saving corrupted files.

This release seems far from ready. Maybe TBH can work through it and clean up some of it up, figure out why its working properly for them but significant problems for a lot of us. For now, I would avoid this thing until they figure out what's going on.

Back to Blurry it is!

From what read on P3Droid's twitter Moto blocked out certain features that would normally work with the updated(2.2.1) kernel.

Yeah, but is it really something that sinister, or could it just simply be trying to run a 2.2.1 system on a 2.2 kernel causing incompatibilities? No one would argue that trying to run a Froyo (2.2) system on an Eclair (2.1) kernel wouldn't cause problems.

I say just give it time. Things will work out in the end.

It looks like its something sinister from Motorola, esp since the 2.1 to 2.2 OTA blocks out the 2.1 SBF. From P3Droid's twitter "Okay: Update, TBH will not be publicy releasing the DX/D2 upgrades, new moto security disables some features when not upgraded w/kernel".
From other twitter posts I been reading, a couple devs may have a work around or working on a work around to get it all working.

Doroot. Fails for me every single time I've sbf'ed until I factory reset like 3 times... that was with reg 2.2 also

rubiX Focused 1.6 & Modded Black Juice.

Love what P3 does and gives, but I never have luck with his ROMs. Tried several times on both my D2 and DX, and I have problems every time. And I've tried more than a few times with different versions. FC's, reboots, and things just plain not working every single time. Like I said, I am very thankful for all the good stuff he gives us, but I stay far away from the ROMs.

mp3's work for me, video works fine for me as well, seems fast as ever if not faster, still use my d1 more, but 2.2.1 is ok just hope i can get GB when it comes out. and what sbf did you use to roll back? i heard it wasn't possible at all.
