I just recently got my Droid razr and absolutely love it. There is not a thing about it that I don't like. I thought I would miss the keyboard from my LG ally but I have not at all. I have noticed awesome battery life when 4g is off and average battery life when 4g is on. Although has anyone else noticed the battery getting a bit hot? I had this same problem with my ally and caused me to replace the battery and ultimately upgrade to this since it stopped functioning.

Also on a complete side note and without trying to cause debate or ruckus what is the whole deal with the boot loader nonsense? So many people make such a big deal about this on their phones but for us non rooter people it is no problem. And if you are still able to root the phone does it really matter? I'm just looking for some clarification on this issue and in no way wish to cause a stir.

Well 1st of all congrats with with your new razr :) i came from the ally too haha
And my razr gets warmish at times but nothing that would make me have tp put the phone down and about the bootloader i am not positive on it but i think that has to do with the roms and kernels correct me if i am wrong on that please and you can still root even if the bootloader is locked. Rooting can make you gain pretty much total control of your phone and be able to add roms as well :)

A locked bootloader prevents complete access to the phone limiting creation of custom roms. There are custom roms coming but it is both easier and safer to flash roms when the bootloader is unlocked. Recovery for a phone that soft bricks is simple with an unlocked bootloader but is far more risky for a phone with a locked bootloader.

This is a great phone whether you root it or not. Pretty good too especially when it was named phone of the year

I have heard of some say their battery gets extremely hot but I can honestly say that my battery has never even felt warm.

As for the bootloader, it really is a non-issue. Unfortunately, Devs may prefer to play with unlocked phones but as an owner of a Droid X which is also locked, there was no shortage of ROM choices fir that device so I pay no attention to that.

Not sure if the battery is the part of the phone that heard up. It could be coming from the will card or the 4g radio since mine heats up mostly while in 4g mode. Yes, it can run quite warm when 4g is on and your using a lot of data.

Yes I think that is the case since it usually cools down right away and doesn't happen when I just have 3g on.

As you can tell by my name, I just got my razr and I am new to the androids. I can't tell you how much I love this phone. I am still on it almost every 30 min just to figure things out and play with the phone. Let me tell you however that the battery life at first was horrible at first but just simply incorporating basic smart actions helped increase my battery life 4-5x over. Anyways.. enjoy the incredible piece of machinery in your hand!! And always... take care of it

The Razr is an awesome phone. 14+ hours on the battery with moderate to heavy use and I can pull in a signal where others only dream.

As for the locked bootloaders, I had an Incredible for almost 2 years and never rooted and don't need to root to be happy. I love it for what it is.
