The last straw.

yahoo email trouble with setup

after a week of trying to setup yahoo email i found a solution. turn off the phone, turn it back on,and go thru the setup posted elsewhere here. ray...:icon_ banana:

@moparharn If I am understanding you correctly... then your issues are not with the Droid so much as they are with Google and Gmail which doesn't seem to be working properly. If your mail is not coming into Gmail, then naturally there is nothing the phone can do to bring it in. Same thing with the Google Sync that syncs Google Calendar with Outlook... the phone can't bring it in if it is not getting to the Calendar.

My first step would be to check the settings and see when the last time these other e-mail groups sync'd sucessfully (it shows you in settings). Then if necessary, go to Google Groups and see if you can find some help there with these issues.

Issues such as these will certainly NOT be part of a "fix" for the Droid, because the problem is not with the Droid, but with a Google Services (which despite how tightly integrated they may be are still different things).

And no, the date of the 11th has not been confirmed, but Google has confirmed that 2.01 will be out "before the end of the year" (which... if it is the 12th instead of the 11th is really no big deal, but if they "confirm" the date and wind up going a day later produces negative impressions, so they will not confirm the date until they are ready to push it out... it only makes sense... from a business sense).

Moparharn, don't look for the ota update to magically fix your issues. From reading this thread it's clear your problems aren't widespread and more than likely is related to a configuration issue on your end. I really doubt it has anything to do with hardware as well. Maybe you should have someone look over all your settings.

I can see and understand why Droid is not yet quite corporate. I don't think the I-phone was either at roll out. In fact Apple has had at least 5 firmware updates in a year and a half, and has only added cut and paste to its iPhone 3.0 software this year. Flash is still in the future for both the Iphone and Droid, but I beleive Adobe will roll out beta soon.

To me, a google apps and android phone solution for small businesses is a match made in heaven! I can't speak for large corps because I haven't read the white papers, ROI studies, etc, but it sounds like it would be the perfect solution for the OP who probably doesn't have the time or will to mess around with such mundane things as IT. Like he says, he just wants it to work. That's what GMAIL and DROID do. They just work.
I strongly agree with this statement.

among the many other reasons for me moving over to this platform the Google/Gmail integration was at the top of the list.

My phone was setup in about 5 minutes and has worked seamlessly since.

I don't want to be bothered with anything except making $$$ : ) so for me Google/Gmail/Android is perfect.

Martin, thanks for those links. I'm glad to see that the Android 2.0.1 update will be out soon, and that it will be available for easy DL on the Droid.

Just before i went to return my Droid the thing shut off

again. This made me think that maybe there IS something not quite right with it. So I went to the store and swapped out for a new one and returned the docking station as I found it of little use to me. I set up my email in the email icon and google as it is separate. All email is coming in at present. I will try to trouble shoot the calendar sync this afternoon. Another thing I LOVE about this phone is once I entered my google account info, the entire phone set itself up OTA and got meright backto where I was in no time flat. Very cool.
SHOULD GOOGLE BE ABLE TO PUSH MY AOL, COMCAST, YAHOO, AND CORPORATE POP3 TO MY PHONE? IS THERE ANOTHER APP THAT WILL? SHOULD I LEAVE MY EMAIL SET UP THE WAY IT CURRENTLY IS USING THE EMAIL ICON AND INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNTS? DOES ANYONE KNOW A GOOGLE/DROID EXPERT IN SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN WHO MIGHT HELP ME?
THANKS.
THE STORE SAID THEY WILL TAKE MY PHONE BACK FOR A REFUND UP UNTIL THE 17TH, AT THAT TIME I WILL HAVE TO GET TECH SUPPORT TO REVERSE THE TERMINATION CHARGE AS THE STORE DID NOT MAKE THE EXTENSION ON THE TRIAL FOR ME. I HAVE TOTHE 17TH TO FIGURE THIS OUT/GET OTA UPDATES. I HOPE THIS WORKS.

What I do is use GMAIL as my converged inbox (and my apologies as I thought this was what you were doing since you said you set up the accounts on your laptop).

In GMAIL I have it pull my POP3 accounts into GMAIL and then of course that syncs with the phone. This enables me to have a converged inbox, and no need to mess with POP3 on the phone.

Jaymonster, i tried to get Google to gather my mail and send it to my phone

but it would not do it for me. It said it was successfully set up, but it did not send my emails. Something really weird just happened. I have this forum set up to send me posts to my comcast account. Igot your post in my gmail box first and then my comcast box a minute or two later. THIS FORUM IS NOT SET UP TO SEND MY EMAIL TO GMAIL, HOW DID IT DO THIS? iT JUST DID IT AGAIN WHILE I WASTYPING THIS. GHOSTS?

You said you "tried" to set up your POP3 to go through e-mail? Did you ever take it back off? It sounds like perhaps it is working now and GMAIL is pulling your Comcast POP3.

Yeah that is what I thought too, but no I removed all

the accounts from google settings and just checked them to see f anything was in there and there are no accounts setup or even listed anywhere. This is weird. Do you think someone from google is reading this thread and messing with me? Conspiracy theory here. On the one hand I am delighted tosee more email support, on the other hand it is one more thing about this phone that I cannot explain. I just tried to check my calendar settings and am not having much luck figuring out the maze. I think I will call tech support.
WOULD IT BE A PROBLEM TO GO AHEAD AND SET UP THE GOOGLE SYNC OF MY EMAIL ACCOUNTS AND LEAVE THE INDIVIDUAL SET UPS ON THE EMAIL ICON. IN OTHER WORDS HAVE THEM SET UP ON BOTH, OR WOULD ONE INTERFERE WITH THE OTHER? GOOGLE IS SENDING THE DROID FORUM NOTICES BEFORE I GET IT FROM COMCAST, HOW THE HELL DID GOOGLE GET THE EMAIL?
