The "New" New Phone Rumor Mill

Ok from what I'm gathering from rumored specs and speculations is the nexus will be the the BGR specs posted earlier this week and the Prime will be the beefier specs that GSMArena posted. The Nexus seems to be going to Tmo, at&t and other carriers, the Prime sounds like it's exclusively going to Verizon. So I'm guessing the Prime will be the one dropping on the 27th, then the Nexus in Q1 of 2012. That is if the rumors/speculations stand true. Just my theory given all the rumored info.

That actually makes a lot of sense! :-P I've been trying to get a theory myself! Let's just hope Verizon does get the good one! :-P

One of the biggest reasons I dont jump ship is my unlimited data plan. If I didn't have the unlimited data, I would be going to sprint for the $80 unlimited call, text, and web.

Not to start throwing knives, but when you start playing the activist against the carriers you've got to take into consideration that data plans are tiered now. If you have an old plan, making a big statement by switching carriers will only be felt by your pocketbook. If you're already on a tiered plan, well, that sucks, and protest away I guess...

I have nothing against Verizon currently and have unlimited data as I have been with them since before the alltel merger. Just saying exclusivity is not a good thing from a developers or consumers standpoint.

Exclusivity is only good for the carrier.

Also it does look like the Prime is going to be the Charge replacement so maybe expect it to be called the Charge Prime? Hence the model number "SCH"-I515. Sounds plausible, no?

EDIT: Just found this...

That would probably mean it most likely _wouldn't_ be a Google supported phone!? (ie Nexus...)
I really see this phone as a replacement to the Nexus, not replacing anything on VZW...
I just really hope we get the Nexus model and not the bloated replacements...

This kind of supports my theory, I don't think it will be called Nexus anything. I think Tmo, AT&T and other carriers will be getting the Nexus. If this in fact is the case it's all going to come down to two things for me, root and a unlocked bootloader. Only time will tell though.

WTH is wrong with the people who write the text for these "articles"? It is both giving me a migraine and I'm sure screwing up my eyesight somehow. I mean, really, it is almost unreadable. Not just this one, but in article after article. Can they not do a basic proofread? Freaking disgusting.

Totally agree with you there and I'm in the same boat having an alltel plan. We're definitely a minority though and I will say that while it is nice monetarily, as data rates increase exponentially it certainly does hamstring you in terms of being more or less forever stuck with a carrier. Unless one day those left on alltel plans become such a minority they just force us to switch illegally.

I think we're wasting out time speculating on the specs of the Prime. There are several indications there might be multiple versions of the phone, that would explain the varying specs that keep bouncing around.

I believe that's the case as well. All the rumors and speculations are what's keeping the blood coursing through my veins though. The more that come out the harder it is to get away from this thread. Lol. Help me! :p

Oh dude trust me, I'm in the same boat as you. I have absolutely decided this is my next phone. Just would really prefer it to have the upper specs that we've seen. Everything else about it looks fantastic. I've been HTC all the way until now, but Im' so tired of the battery and charging glitches I can't stand it. Plus, I have the perfect mix of widgets to basically set up the screen like Sense if I want it without having the heavy battery drain. Putting this layout on the Prime would be Heaven. Really wanting this for my birthday present for myself.
