The "New" New Phone Rumor Mill

At one point I said it might be... but there hasn't been anything concrete. But I still tend to think it has as much to do with PR than it does respect. Nothing is lost by delaying the launch if it doesn't change the actual release date. Just a bit more of us speculating.

Agreed, launch date is whats important. I am in the market now to purchase the Nexus and begin development on the next iteration of android and hardware...waiting another month would be detrimental to my well being.

To bad some google PR person won't read that and go "Oh, why didn't you say so, let us send you an dev kit so you can start working on it!"

For those that would like to be enlightened, I am fairly confident that this postponement of announcement has only to do with Jobs passing.
Thought I would repost from the ICS delay thread as this is the real Nexus thread..

I have been following all "the insiders", P3Droid, BMX, and BritishTurbo (the guy who leaked that the Bionic was in trouble). Speaking of him (BT), an XDA thread of Nexus speculation links to his Google+ profile because of a recent post. He confirms that the delay is anouncement only. He also confirms that the GSMarena specs are more correct than the BGR ones, this correlates with P3Droid and BMX. This really is going be a beast phone. Only thing he is not certain of is if when it lands (on Verizon first) if it will truly carry the name Nexus. All else is accurate though.

The Nexus does not need a CITA event, its existence is announcement enough because it is...THE MOST INTERESTING DEVICE IN THE WORLD

I don't even mind paying. Speaking of paying I wonder if google will give us developers a small price cut? Would be nice to get it for less than six including any taxes/shipping that may be imposed.

So what's the early word on the Nexus? Sounds like it will originally be a VZW exclusive.

Is it going to be the next mega-super-duper phone, above average phone, or just another smartphone?

In other words, what's the hype on this thing given what we know about it so far?

One of the rumors listed this as a true "world phone"... the VZW version would have to have gsm to have a world phone, no?

Another rumor mentioned this was VZW exclusive in the US, but would go to other carriers around the world - that could be the other explanation for this.

No exclusivity would not be a downside, Verizon could at any time pull something that would make us want to change carriers.

Unleash the beast on the world.

Ok from what I'm gathering from rumored specs and speculations is the nexus will be the the BGR specs posted earlier this week and the Prime will be the beefier specs that GSMArena posted. The Nexus seems to be going to Tmo, at&t and other carriers, the Prime sounds like it's exclusively going to Verizon. So I'm guessing the Prime will be the one dropping on the 27th, then the Nexus in Q1 of 2012. That is if the rumors/speculations stand true. Just my theory given all the rumored info.

Not to start throwing knives, but when you start playing the activist against the carriers you've got to take into consideration that data plans are tiered now. If you have an old plan, making a big statement by switching carriers will only be felt by your pocketbook. If you're already on a tiered plan, well, that sucks, and protest away I guess...
