The Official DF Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release Thread

At the very least, they should have given him a loaner phone. They refused, so I don't blame him for playing hard ball.

Like Liderc said above, if the BB employee was going to lose his/her job, I definitely would have returned it. But they even denied that, and instead gave the "unfinished software" b.s.

I agree they should have done something but the impression I got, could be very wrong, he went in there with a mission. Which is ok, just be polite about it. Maybe he was though....

you guys actually are able to sleep?

In all honestly, no. This morning I woke up and picked up my phone to google "Galaxy nexus verizon" to see what happened while I was "sleeping". I ended up laying in bed with my phone on droidforums. Then I decided I couldn't go back to sleep so I got up.

Time to head off to my final exam. Wish me luck!

99% sure that slander and libel only apply when it isn't true. Nothing that he suggested was false, therefore no grounds for a lawsuit.

Also pretty sure that blacklisting the phone would lead to a lot more trouble than it is worth for a mistake that VZW didn't even make. I don't think they would bring that upon themselves.

You are correct in that this is not libel or slander, but it is blackmail. The act of demanding compensation from someone under the threat of revealing damaging information. He wasn't injured at all by BB asking him to return the phone. All he had to do was say no thank you. Negotiating compensation is fine, but threatening to hurt someone by posting information on the internet is a problem. Basic ethics.

Missed your post Prowler. I agree with you as you can see.

After long hours of just sitting in bed, tossing in turning.. restraining my self to read and reply to DroidForums.. yes, I eventually "sleep".

By the way, in school now on the computer supposed to be working on this Dreamworks project.. that's coming nicely.

Haha... I opened tapatalk first thing this morning to see if any more TV show talked had happened and/or if some happened to get a G-Nex this morning (yeah, at 6AM CST)...

I'm good down to about 65 myself. Below that and I wear thermals and stay indoors.

On the other end, it's not hot until it's above 110. Below that is just a nice spring day.
I know this is beyond weird but sometimes at school the prof crank up the ac and its like high 60's on summer day so after class i go to my 135 degree car and just sit for a good half hour before i leave and defrost. Withstanding heat is way easier for me then the cold. Its a gift from growing up in the state i guess. and yea below 110 is a nice day. I would consider that around the norm for the summer. And on side note, wow i misspelled shirts. :D can you fix that in your quote?

If they told me someone was going to lose their job I'd have returned it no questions asked. It's Christmas folks.

I do agree that because the guys had to deal with the ordeal, when it wasn't his fault, he should receive a full refund, plus a temporary phone until the Nexus is available. I wouldn't demand a gift card or accessories, I'd just want my money back and a replacement phone until they could sell me the Nexus again.

Is everyone really such a cold hearted bastard? lol

I don't recall the exact details of the story (and I don't have the patience to flip back to verify), but I seem to remember it sounding like BB was being pretty pushy and almost manipulative about it. My take on it: If I got a call from Best Buy and they said --"Sir, I'm sorry but we really screwed up. We were not supposed to sell you that phone and now we are in deep trouble with Verizon and the salesperson who sold it to you is about to lose their job. Is there any way we can have you bring it back temporarily and we can sell it to you again once its officially released?"--I would have not even hesitated to bring it back.

But, if they called me BSing me saying something about like --"The phone is flawed. We can't in good conscience allow you to use a faulty product that isn't ready for release. We need you to bring it back." -- My response would have been "Hell, no. I bought it. It is mine. You got my money, I got my product. I'm happy with the product, so leave me alone. I don't owe you anything, I am not in debt to you, therefor you cannot tell me to give it back."

I guess I'm kinda interpreting the whole story as BB trying to strong arm the guy. If that's the case, I'd refuse just based on principle. Otherwise, I'd gladly take the phone back. I haven't tried to go out a buy the Nexus on the off chance I would get lucky enough to get it by mistake because I wouldn't be able to enjoy it knowing I probably just cost someone their job.

I think I should get 5,000. With all this GNex talk, I didn't even notice I got to 1,000 posts! And now I almost got 1,100. 2 days ago I was at 930 I believe.. the last time I checked anyway.

I WILL GET IT! :icon_ devil:
