This thread is about motorcycles!

I'd also start with a Ninja 250,500 or something similar. The new CBR250 looks like a fine starter bike and if I had the money, I wouldn't mind getting one to play around on. I do have a differing opinion on rear brake use on the street. I don't do track days but I have 13+ years of street riding without an accident. I always use front and rear braking on the street. I just think it makes sense. I want as much braking as I can have and as long as you modulate both correctly, then you shouldn't have a problem.
Of course on my current bike it's a moot point as I have a VFR with linked brakes.:)
Whatever bike you decide on, get the proper training and wear the proper gear and you're gonna love it.

Thanks for both of those.

I know the rear brake is almost unused on street riding but hadn't thought about the dirt portion.

Turn 10a is a rough corner after that much speed. I have experienced the corner many times (in video games!). I know its not half the same! ;)

I love 10a/10b, but I will forever miss Gravity Cavity :icon_eek:

Yeah, it is my favorite track. Not sure if you saw it, but this is me from the 4th of July weekend. Had a blast. The Triumph is quick but I wish I had had a camera back when I had my CBR1000rr Repsol Edition. That thing had an extra 45hp at the wheel and it really showed on the straights. The Triumph is quick and handles like a dream but it isn't in the same league as a modern literbike....

Still riding my first bike which is a shadow 750. You will always want something faster or more agile after 6 months. I am about to sell mine and go for a 600 crotch rocket. And if you are gonna go that route get one that has been dropped and pay no more than 3500 for it. You will drop it at some point, be it doing something stupid or you slipping on a spot of oil while you are standing at a street light. Also I dont need or want to go super fast but when you are on a freeway and you need to get out of the way of someone who doesnt see you there it is good to be able to accelerate out of that situation. You could just skip all the bull**** and get a 2011 zx10r with a few simple mods you get a 200hp/400lb wet bike. You'll be popping wheelies at 170 in no time.
