1: Top 5 "everyday" apps
1. Handcent Sms (The best sms App hands down)
$ Beautiful Widgets (Amazing for main screen time, date, and weather)
2. Astrid Tasks (Great To-Do list Syncs with google tasks)
3. K-9 Mail (Best app IMO for checking email)
4. Better Alarm free version (Use it every morning to wake up for class)
5. Ak Notepad (Great for quick little notes, I used to keep track of room numbers)
2: Top 5 stock "replacement" apps
1. Handcent Sms (Blows away stock app by miles)
2. Launcher Pro (Love it, it is much better than stock home but a lot)
3.Better Alarm (I think it is better than the stock alarm app)
4.Dolphin Browser HD (The best internet browsing app I have used, and I have tried almost all of them)
5.K-9 mail (Much better than the stock email app, easy to use too)
3: Top 5 "unknown" apps
1.Gmote (Use it to control your computer from your droid)
2.Mileage (Keeps track of gas mileage and price per fill up ect. It is great)
3.Timeriffic (Set times to have your phone silent, on vibrate, or on full ring at any time of the day)
4.Stumble Upon (I haven't seen much talk about this app, but it it the best time killer out there. Basically you enter your preferences and it takes you to random websites based on them)
5.Zombie run (If you have a boring walk somewhere, fire up this app! You choose how many zombies and how fast they move, then it uses GPS to determine where you are and you have to get to your destination without being caught by the zombies. It is a lot of fun sometimes!)

2. Cargo HD (You run a shipping industry, package and ship all the supplies!)
3. Pocket Legends (Great free MMO)

Appsorganizer - group by situation are useful, that's my app drawer, no flinging (bless you ADW)
Smart Taskbar - multi-tasking, whew!
Ultrachron if I have to pick one of the timers I use throughought workday
No Lock - geeze that lock screen drove me crazy
Alarm Klock - goes along with the timers for work (I have a lot of deadlines.)
STOCK REPLACEMENT
I think Google is the only thing I do use.
ADW EX - big improvement IMHO, customization is my vice, options definitely worth the time to configure intuitively

Awesome post! Exactly what a new Android user like myself needs to really experience what is out there. Getting my used D1 and will be rooting, rom, wifi tether, etc.. immediately. Can't wait to try out these apps. Thanks Everyone who posted!
