[Tutorial]Sysctl and you, A guide to better preformance and battery life.

I guess I should. I don't overclock....mostly because I don't know how and don't wanna break my phone doing something I don't totally understand. For some reason this is way different for me than overclocking a computer.

QuickClock has a calculator in it that will calculate the best setup for you phone. And Droid Overclock will have one soon I believe too.

Ok I did it in jrummy overclock app but when I put it in terminal this is what I get

Don't blame me my head and hands posted it.

I've never seen those results before... go to terminal, and type this in:
cp /etc/sysctl.conf /sdcard/

Then go to the root of your sdcard and open the file sysctl.conf as text and tell me what it says.

Sounds like you might not have a sysctl.conf file. Do you have root explorer?

Actually, that first one looked successful. Did you check the root of you sdcard for the file?

I don't really see a difference in battery life. Should it be a big difference or slight?

Yes that looks good. Reboot your phone and go to the terminal, try the

sysctl -a | grep vm

again and see if it works

Depends on usage really, but I saw a pretty good difference.
