Ultimate Droid Froyo eXtreme 8.0.0 - Droid

Flashed over 7 last night. Got everything set back up today minus a few framework edits and some random apk edits. Smooth process even without using Titanium to backup. Just had to redo my shortcuts and change some icons. Battery life seems pretty good so far. I used bluetooth headset to listen to music on the way to work (1 hour 15 minutes), and was messing with the UD Settings this morning. Still at 80%. That should put me through the entire day which is all I personally need.

I have noticed a serious increase in speed. Maybe not even speed but, the wicked redraw from 7 is completely gone. I was blaming it (and still am) on juice defender but I guess 8 plays more nicely with juice than 7 did.

The rotary lockscreen seems smoother and better put together. I don't know if it even got changed or it was my phone but, it's better x1000

I have noticed I have no access to the Market (network error) or gtalk (network unavailable) but that could be a Google thing. Won't know till I let some time pass and try it again. I do have full bars 3g. (Wondering if I should do the 2.1 trick the market thing.)

Just like in 7, the customizable options are nuts and there's only 1 I have never been able to get to work. No big deal though, just edit the frame and push it back.

Must say, AGAIN, yet another very well put together ROM by BD. I, for one, will not be changing ROM's or downgrading to an earlier version.

One questno though, where did the D2 keyboard go? Seems to have been lost in the shuffle.

D2 keyboard still has issues and messes with the physical keyboard on D1.

reboot recovery and wipe cache, if that doesnt fix market and gtalk, you need to wipe cache and data.

hope this helps you, usually gtalk and market not working = data wipe and cache

No worries, just tried it again before I went that route and I am in. Just a Google hiccup I suppose.

Reflash ur recovery and redownload rom. Let me know if that helps. Recommended recovery is sprecovery also. Can install through rom manager or dmupdater 12.

List out exactly what you did. Example... I made a nandroid backup and then I wiped data and cache 3 times each and installed UD 8 and now I'm stuck at the "M"

No worries, just tried it again before I went that route and I am in. Just a Google hiccup I suppose.

Glad it works now. And no on the apks. Usually means something corrupted or messed up in /data with those 2 apps.

I seem to have not included the modified email app stock in this version, but you should be able to download it from the modified apps in the UD settings.

How exactlly do you download the modified apps? I clicked on it installed it but the problem still happens

Try this cody:

Restore your advanced nandroid backup of UD 7.0
Make a new andvanced nandroid backup of DATA ONLY (uncheck all boxes except DATA)
back out to the main menu.
Wipe data/clear cache 3 times.
Install 8.0
Restore your backup of Data only.

That should fix your problem.

P.S. This is what i do EVERY upgrade for UD. It restores ALL of my settings, bookmarks, texts, apps, etc. So far it has never failed. I got rid of Titanium and Mybackup long ago.

I will def do this for the next release. I got everything set up right now and will just use k9 for the time being. Thank you though. Great release too guys really nice.



Also for the modified email app should i delete the stock one first then install the modified?

For those of you waiting on a Red Glass port (because I know it's gonna get asked a lot... since Cuttalott seems to have vanished and RedmanX..well you know... if there is something specific from it that you want as far as an app goes, you can always pull the apk file from the 7.0 theme zip file. Put it on your SD card. Use root explorer to move it to the system/app folder. Mount as r/w, set the permissions to be (read for all three, write for the user and no one gets exectue) then reboot. then hit the mount as r/o button again.

NOTE: this worked for me just fine on vending.apk I would make a backup 1st incase it doesn't. Just an idea/my 2 cents.


That's the easy way. If an update to those app's came out, the png's may go bye bye.

Same here, I've noticed it is snappier and smoother compared to 7.
