[ROM] Unofficial CM10/JB ROM Development [09/24 DATAFIX]

Kexec does NOT have a functional camera atm. Also, Hashc0de warned on Twitter that the newest kexec nightlies will only boot on Safestrap 3, which still isn't public yet.

Steer clear for now.

ok so the camera not working is a different bug than the "stock" version...but im still wanting to know the differnce in kexec roms and "stock" version..

Its a custom built kernel side loaded over the existing Motorola kernel. Since our phone has a locked bootloader, we can't flash kernels like HTC people can...this is a way around that. According to hashc0de its the future hotness--it just has a few bugs that still need ironed out.

This is fantastic, works perfectly and impossibly smooth! Is there any way to enable the "Toggle LED" on the power widget in the notification drawer?

and what does a kernal do? is it what makes a phone operate faster?

The kernel is the underlying foundation of the operating system that allows it to communicate and interface with the device's hardware. Kexec is a custom built kernel, which means that the devs working on supporting it are essentially rewriting how your ROM talks to the phone's hardware, like its camera.

I believe kexec is a linux command that allows fast switching of kernels without a full reboot, so the new safestrap takes advantage of this command and loads a custom kernel.

So which download of the ROM is the most stable and has the most features working?

Go with 10/9/12 version I've tested it and I had no issues whatsoever.
Besides the no picture send/receive and pinch display

Testing latest build 10/14/12 right now and the speeds improved with every new build it seems.
*update* still has no picture messaging and pinch display bug is still present but for some reason it seems like its faster.

This phone is getting some massive dev support from hash I know that lol, pumpin out an update every other week.

I might have to set up ota updater with this rom lol just for that reason.

mike253...............how do u set up ota updater? cause i thought u would have to flash the rom and then the gapps

I haven't looked into it yet, but I'm sure it'll be pretty easy. Ill check into it eventually. From what I've seen is if you have already the rom all you need to do is set the url where the updater will get the the files then from there it'll just update the rom for you.

If you already have cm10 on your d4, you can just flash the newer updates without wiping anything (from my experience) and all apps/ texts everything stays.

*Edit*- just noticed ota updater is installed with cm10, but its still on the 10/9 build probably due to the fact that the 10/14 build is pretty recent still and hash is gonna probably look to see for bug reports and such.
