Unroot/Back to Stock (2.2) Without .sbf or RSD Lite - Droid 1 Only

Um, no. You watch the PC screen after putting the phone into bootloader. But, hey, if you don't want to do it that way good luck with this way.

Does using your suggested method unroot the phone and wipe data at the same time? If it does that, then I'm game for using your method. Could you please provide me a link to the thread that has the instructions? Would really appreciate it.

It returns the phone totally out out-of-the-box stock.

I just used this method on this phone (with a different SBF) to root my phone earlier this week. Just watch the PC screen and when it says it's rebooting the phone you need to press up on the d-pad to make sure when the phone reboots it reboots into the bootloader. However, I'd recommend you move all discussions to that thread so we can keep this one on-topic. :) There's nothing wrong with this method, it just would be a LOT easier to do if you can see the screen so you're not counting and possibly screwing something up. If you can't get RSD Lite to recognize the phone you'll have to do it this way.

@ nohm: listen to the furman, he's taking you down the right road to where you asked to go. It'll be easiest in the long run.

good luck

Hi all just a quick tip if ur trying to unroot on a droid and u mess up and format ur system (like i did ) and the phone jack is broken (and ur trying to claim warranty) u can load up this update file directly onto ur sd card. For some reason i was unable to load it onto my phone's sd card root file (think bc my old reader was just for micro-sd not micro sd/hc) so i bought a new micro-sd/hc card and reader/writer and i was able to load it up on that and then unroot very easily. This could also be a solution if someone needs to unroot but cant connect to their computer or to the internet on their phone (if they activated a different phone already like i did) Thanks for the guide! U guys saved me $500 bucks!

Will this wipe my recent calls/text messages? If so, is it possible to restore them somehow? I restored my texts awhile back when switching ROMs, but I used Titanium Backup which requires root.

My camera is screwed up and i have to take my phone in for repair, so I have to go back to stock.
I noticed this if for 2.2 FRG22D.
I wonder if there is a 2.2.1 FRG83D "Master OTA" update file avaiable?

..

My camera took a dump. So I have to take my phone in for a warranty call...
I assume this works in going from rooted FRG38D. I plan on using "Rom Manger. It shows a stock image named "Verizon Droid 2.2 FRG01B". I don't think the phone company will care if I am at 2.2 or 2.2.1.
Should I just load this one?

don't use rom manager, it won't unroot properly. This will unroot you fine even if you are on frg83d. If you really wanted to, unroot using this method, it will bring you back to frg22d but after doing a factory reset you should get prompted to update to frg83d rather quickly.

No there is not, but this method will work and then you can find the FRG83D update file.

Also, please do not double/cross post your problem in several threads. You already have been making this same conversation including the rom manager version in the root the droid1 with any os thread as well.

Thank you.

finally updated for FRG83G, and cleaned up a tad...

not the most elegant solution as I had to add a few instructions, but it serves the purpose of the tutorial until we get a better OTA file - ideally a Master OTA for FRG83G, but that doesn't look great at this point!

awesome write up, made even easier that I did use my computer to mount and switch out the update zip files since I did could not activate being that I just got my thunderbolt saturday.
