Unroot/Back to Stock (2.2) Without .sbf or RSD Lite - Droid 1 Only

I meant I have FRG22D... not 83. I don't believe anyone has gotten ahold of a master FRG83D. But once you are back to 100% stock with the master FRG22D file, then immediately apply the small update to FRG83D and you are stock and up to date.

I just downloaded the update.zip from the dropbox link on the first post of this thread, and did a CRC check against my master file, just like I did in post #9 and they still match, so I think the update.zip file is still good, not corrupted.

I've tried the original link in the opening post, as well as the links on this page. Everything is getting and Error: Installation aborted message.

I'm actually totally stock except for being unable to get rid of the SU icon in my app drawer, and for some reason, I don't have the stock boot animation. I had changed animations, but then changed back to the stock one, but when I wiped data, it reverted back to an old custom animation. Also, my Droid is currently deactivated as I just bought an Incredible. Just want to get rid of the SU icon and get the stock boot animation, so that I can sell it totally clean.

Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance!

Try DroidMod Updater 1.2 and see if you can get it to uninstall. Otherwise you'll have to reroot to get it gone if this method won't work and you just don't want to use RSD Lite.

Thanks. I will. I've actually had trouble with RSD Lite, that's why I'm trying to avoid it.

Did a google search, and tried to search the forum, so my apologies, but where is DroidMod Updater link located?

And what kind of troubles have you had?

Thank you! Have to run some errands, but will try it later tonight.

I was actually trying to ReRoot my Droid after the latest OTA update, using RSD Lite. SPRecovery blocked the update once, but for some reason, when it popped up again a few days later, I accepted it, but it didn't block it. When I tried to reroot, I was having trouble running RSD Lite as an administrator. It's possible it was automatically running as an administrator, since I'm the only one that uses my computer, but was scared to continue without knowing more first. In the mean time, I was in the VZ store for something else, and wound up using one of two updates I had on the Incredible, so I didn't pursue the RSD problem any further. At least, not yet.

Okay. Well, since we're getting off-topic here and we don't want to do that feel free to try DM Updater and we'll move to another thread to finish if it doesn't work for you. :)

This is so simple, took me less than five minutes!! I didn't want to go through the RSD Lite option as that caused too many issues the last time I tried flashing a ROM with it. You have to have the file in a specific directory and sometimes it'll still have issues. I needed to return my phone today and I couldn't find something simple like this. Will be getting my replacement D1 tomorrow. I feel so out of place without it, can't wait. Thank you! :yr1:

P.S. How come there are no "hug" smileys? Is it because that's too "girly" and it's presumed only guys are on this forum? :p

Try this one, sapnasparks :)

It's located here -- just click the little postcard icon and paste the address in there. :)

& I'm surprised this isn't a sticky.

UPDATE:
For some reason, I never could get this method to work. I tried five different zip files. I had orgionally unrooted with super one click, and that worked to unroot then I did a factory reset after that and the SU icon came back. So maybe that had something to do with it. anyway i used RSDlight. I never could get the device to show up but when I slected the file. the start button poped up. out of options I rolled the dice and prayed it worked. flashed it to the first froyo. all stock. the in a few mintues I got a OTA installed it. then a bit later got the last OTA so I am all current and stock once again. Thank you all that help and do these write ups

Yes, unfortunately it seems as though jntdroid and I have one step missing to remove ALL traces of root. However it can't be done if for some reason one still has the stock recovery system installed, and can only be done using adb shell if you have the SPRecovery system.

And that step is in CMRecovery where you go to the partitions menu and select format /system before applying the update.zip as that is where Superuser.apk and the su binary are located.

Think you may be right teddyearp. I'm looking at SPRecovery now and it only has options to wipe cache and data partitions, not system. Clockwork lets you format anything and everything.

I'm going to go through the whole process again, starting with applying the master FRG22D and then applying FRG83D.

Edit: I suppose you could manually edit the system partition and delete those things while you are still rooted, then apply the master to return to stock.
