Unroot/Back to Stock (2.2) Without .sbf or RSD Lite - Droid 1 Only

Thanks for the write-up. I'm currently dealing with an incredibly glitchy D1, and need to bring it back to VZW for service tomorrow morning. It's taking me awhile (due to the current ghastly state of my device), but it's still a life-saver.

So I downloaded the update.zip from your dropbox link. How do I know if its saved to the root of my sd card? I'm using astro file manager. Thanks

You go to the download folder, select the file, rename it or whatever you need to do, and then move it.

When I look at the file it says /mnt/sdcard/update.zip
Does that mean I'm good to go for the next step in turning my phone off ? Thanks for the help.

That should work for you. Give it a try. If you can't install it we'll try something else to get it working. Make note of any errors you get.

Installation aborted

Trying to install this, downloaded from the dropbox link.

Coming from MIUI (shouldn't matter)
Clockwork Recovery

Failed last night when downloaded directly to phone, and now this morning, downloaded via PC and transfered to SD.

Wiped data and cache multiple times to be certain.

Error Message:

E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

Any thoughts?
I'm just going to be giving the Droid to my son, but really don't think he needs a rooted / tweaked system. Might just go get metickones frg83d, and unroot it.


EDIT: Just saw 'toggle asserts' in the menu, trying.
- nope, same error.

That's FRG01B but you can then update to 83D.

Im using the stock recovery, not clockwork, and have tried two diffent copies of the zip. will try the one just posted
